23 votes and still over a 6 is good news in my experience. I didn't make it in for this challenge, but I'll vote. And I don't automatically give 2's and 3's for not meeting the challenge, but generally 5 is the ceiling if there's an attempt to shoehorn an image in ("Sunset on the affluent" or "Flowers for the rich" for example). IMO, the "Challenge" is what the site is supposed to be about. Of course anyone can vote any which way they want - not like there haven't been winners in the past that I didn't think met the challenge topic. ;-)

My first entry ever. I didn't expect it to do great, but so far all I've gotten are comments from people who don't understand that it does in fact fit the challenge :-/ Perhaps my title should have been much more explicit.

This is a tough challenge to score. There are so many off topic photos. Sure, there's lots of liberal interpretations, with more than half the photos focusing on a lack of affluence (which may be arguably fine - my own photo is included here), but there's HEAPS that I can't figure any relevance at all.
Ah well, we'll all get hammered in the voting and hopefully we'll come up with more on-topic photos for next week. :)
Well done to those who did actually follow the theme with some great shots.

Based on what I am seeing in this threads, it looks as if this is going to be a low scoring challenge. Haven't voted on anything yet, so not sure of the quality of pics.

| Perhaps some reviewers need to think out of the box a bit to get the affluence message. The comments that I read the reviewers are not getting the irony of the image that I submitted. |

darn it...i thought for sure my entry would be at least low 5's....boy was i wrong. one comment and that one is totaly off base! its a real life________ not a toy! when voting and commenting please view the whole photo...and this means the BG too in relation to the subject!

If my laptop battery weren't about to run out, I probably would have titled my submission differently, something like:
"I know it sucks, but I have no other submissions on the go and I need the Update Button"
But there's still hope for that elusive perfect 10! Come on everybody, give the crappy shot a 10!

So far, it's been like this. On my first 7 challenges, my highest was a 5, I already got one with 5.296, so I expect the score to come up so I can beat my highest.
This should mean I'm getting better photos, right?

Huh? It just seemed like people here were posting low scores in this thread. How does that have any significance?
It was meant serve as a statement saying I was not sure if the low scores were warranted since I had not seen the entries yet. Somebody is a little sensitive it seems! Must be another low scorer! :)

I did not enter this challenge, mainly because I didn't want another mediocre entry pulling my average down, but I must say I was really dissapointed with the entries on this, and thus reinforces my reasons why I didn't enter. Pictures of houses and boats did nothing for me and well, alot of the cars bombed for me as well. Although there were about 10 decent pics. For the most part I gave out a few 10s and alot of 3-5s. Not too much in the middle there.
This was a hard challenge.

| I am finding this very difficult to score as well. So many of the entries seem to be off topic. Others just seem to be poor choices. I can usually catch the subtle messages but for many photos in this challenge I am just not getting it. I'm beginning to think I should stop voting. |

I don't normally chime in on the discussions about quality of entries either, but I thought there were an unusually large number of "off-topic" entries as well. There are some great ones (as always), but I find I'm scoring more 4s than normal - I give 5 max to a great photo that doesn't meet the challenge, a 4 to a mediocre photo that doesn't meet the challenge, and a 3 to a poor photo that doesn't meet the challenge (very few of these ever). If it meets the challenge, I give it no lower than a 5.
That's just the way I score, but everyone is different. I'm glad I didn't enter this one. :-)

| I had a good idea yesterday that I could've shot in an hour, but my wife got home late and I had no time to break out the ol' image grabber. Just wait for Affluence II... ;-P |
