I'm pretty new to this site and I've only been voting for a few weeks but I'd agree with many that this week's is a hard one. I see a lot of really good photographs, but then I have to subtract points because I don't follow HOW IT RELATES TO THE SEVEN DEADLY SINS. For instance, unlike many professional photographers, I don't have a problem with cute pet pictures. But I do this week, BECAUSE PETS CAN'T SIN. At least not like humans can and that's what the Biblical reference is about. Honestly, I see a fat cat and I blame the cat partly for overeating, but I also blame the owner for feeding it so darn much. (Folks, you really should try to be a little smarter than the pussy cat you own.)
Here's my other beef about this week. Most pictures show THE EFFECTS OF Gluttony, or WHAT INSPIRES, Lust, Greed... but to depict the sins themselves is the hard thing. Even when the picture shows someone eating, well... it doesn't necessarily feel like Gluttony. Eating is necessary to survival; how do you show the difference between survival and way too much. |
