I know there is a thred on how to do the simpler type of borders, but how do you do nicer ones than just the plan box around the outside. Like for example, the photo that won for postcards has a transparent border, and I notice some people have borders that are a box, however they do not always come up the the edge of the photo, so I don't think its a canvas size thing. I hope someone knows what I am talking about lol I know certain things are not legal here, but do any of you also know where I can get some good filters or something for boarders. I just want to be able to play around, and I am still relatively new to Photoshop.

ok no one knows what I mean, thats ok I don't either lol just ignore lol But if anyone has any tips or knows of any good sites please tell me lol Like I know some of you have boarders, that have that 3D kind of shaddow to it too. It looks cool :)

Two (apparently) "DPC-legal" ways to do a transparent border:
1) For a smooth rectangle: SelectAll; apply a stroke in white (or other color) at 5-25% opacity.
2) For a feathered/vignetted fill: SelectAll; use Select>Border to create a selection of desired width (10-40 pixels at DPC image sizes); feather selection by desired amount, and fill with white (or color). You can see an example of this technique on Blue Roses
Some other folks have done a lot with bevels, gradients, and drop-shadows. I've been trying to keep to simple one- or two-color borders. |
