...and am supernew to all that is photography. I am about to buy a *ist DS and travel around Europe backpacking and learning photography as we go. I've spent the last hour or so checking out a few pics and users but have not seen many photos that interest me subject-wise(Now that's not to say that they weren't interesting - I'm finding with forums that I really have to explain myself clearly or people jump down your throat very quickly).
Okay so without having to scout thru all pics and users could someone please recommend other users who liked to photograph cafes/bars/cities/streetlife.(I plan to open my own cafe/bar soon and am looking for ideas/inspiration)
From what I see most subject matter is flowers/dogs/cats/trees etc. (Which is all good. I will be doing the same) but I want to know how best to photograph inside bars.cafes.laneways.streetlife.
I basically want to see the pulse of a "city". Or can anyone recommend professional photographers that focus on this?
Okay...so I'm loving this site...and can't wait to learn photography and participate in it.
Cheers!!
Luke

You may also want to check out some stock photography sites. You can search photographs by KEY words so you will probably be able to find what you are looking for.

Welcome Luke :) There are several here that enjoy street photography. I know Photopoints has some wonderful photos. Check out the catergories there. Be sure to keep us posted on your trip photos and how you're doing. There are lots of learning sites I can pass on to you that helped me. Feel free to drop me a note if you would like some.

I posted that message, went a grabbed a beer, came back and within the space of 15mins 60-odd people have viewed it.
This site is massive!!
I breifly checked out Xion and yes that's more like it, will now go and have another look at his work.
Thanks for the welcome 4N4M. Lately I've been spending a bit of time on dcresource.com and found a link there to this site which I'm sure I'm going to spend the next month checking out prior to going O/S.
Okay anymore suggestions peoples?

Okay. I've just checked out jibeguin and xion. Really liked their stuff.
My favourite so far is "On the train" from Jibeguin. That's the moneyshot...very cool.
Also had a look at Photopoints and found an excellent snap. There's a couple in arms against a backdrop of graffiti, she's wearing a kind of similar type. Loved it.
So I'm on the right track!!
Thanks Shizzzam. I checked out your profile and like the "maters" and "god is colourblind" snaps. I stumbled upon a photographer "Robertleon"(has he's own site) recently and loved how he photographed certain subjects that almost appeared as abstract paintings, like your "maters".
Anyway thanks again. I'm off to explore the "urban" snaps. I hope i manage to obtain what I'm after and thus will post some results in the near future.
Cheers
