I need to get myself some more batteries for my Nikon Coolpix 8700. I have purchased off-brand batteries on ebay in the past and they wouldn't hold a charge. Nikon's EN-EN1 batteries are excellent, but relatively expensive.

Does anybody know where to get decent batteries at an affordable price?

After5pm.net usually has a 2 for 1 deal and free shipping...try them. I've ordered 4 batteries from there and they work even better than my original Canon ones. :0)

Thanks for the link. They are sold out of the 2-for-1 battery I need right now, but hopefully they will be in stock soon.

I haven't checked if they stock batteries you're looking for but //www.power101.com had the cheapest prices i've seen and the product I got worked perfectly!

WOW, are you sure it works well? The battery I want is only $1.75 on here. That's incredible! I think I'll buy a dozen!

I bought a 300D battery about a year ago from them and it still works fine, better than the canon one infact!

I've gotten great prices and service from Battery Barn.

Are you sure the batteries you bought on ebay have the same charge specifications as the normal battery? I usually have to hunt through the sellers before I find someone who does the batteries with the same high capacity.

I looked for one that specified compatible with the 20D and didn't see it mentioned.

I'm still getting used to the new camera - how would I know if the battery listed would work with my camera? What do I need to look for in the specs?

Oh, and would I be able to charge the non-Canon battery in my Canon charger?

I purchase batteries for my 20D from this company Batteries and was quite pleased. The batteries I got had more oomph that the initial batteries I got with the camera, and I certainly could not complain about the price.

I think by far the best place to go is ebay. I got 2 batteries for my Canon Digital Rebel for $14. They were just fine. I've bought batteries for other digital cameras there before as well.
