I know there are a lot of us here in Arizona now. How about a get together? I'm thinking the weekend of the 23rd-24th?
Maybe something in the Flagstaff area? Red Mountain? Wupatki Ruins/Sunset Crater? Grand Canyon? Maybe a weekend trip?
Thoughts? Anyone interested?

As long as it is not the last weekend in July, I am interested.

Actually I find Arizona beautiful and would love to do some shooting there. I plan on maybe this fall or next. I know it is cooler up north just not quite cool enough for us webtoes. Would be nice to learn from the locals though ..... |

I'm planning for an area around 8,000 feet where highs will be in the mid 80s. I don't think that's too hot.

I would be interested as well. As long as the fires don't cause a problem. |

Slot canyon would be Page area and that would mean hot, not to mention July is monsoon season and it's not a good idea to be in a slot canyon during monsoon season.
Maybe a Page get together in October? There are a few little known slots in Southern Utah I might be willing to take some people into.
For July I'm thinking Red Mountain:

//www.stickandboots.org/RedMtPics.html
Great short hike with a lot of volcanic colors.
Or the Sunset Crater area:
//www.americansouthwest.net/arizona/sunset_crater_volcano/national_monument.html
//www.cpluhna.nau.edu/Places/wupatki.htm
Amazing little area with volcanos, lava flow areas, spectacular colors, and several very photogenic indian ruins.

I think I'd rather Red Mountain but only because I haven't been there, but then again I'm not even sure it's even plausable for me to go yet so maybe my vote shouldn't count so heavily...

There aren't that many pictures out there and I don't know where mine are... I don't have them posted on the net anywhere. If this link doesn't work, try doing a Google search and click the images tag... put in "red mountain" +flagstaff for the search text

You might need to be a member to view the photos, but check here:
//www.hikearizona.com/decoder.php?ZTN=101
There are about 8 different members that submited photos of red mountian. You'll have to click to see each sumbission individually. This should give you a good idea of the possibilities.

Red Mountain is one of the coolest places around in AZ and fairly secret. Being about an hour from the Grand Canyon & Petrified Forest and being 30 miles from anything, it stays under the radar and it's usually not too crowded.
A good photographer can easily spend all day there.

Saturday July 23rd will be the day, Red Mountain will be the place.
I'm planning on just a day trip, but I'd be willing to camp in Flagstaff and come home Sunday if others want to.
Who is in and where are you coming from (so we can arrange carpools)?
I'm coming from just south and east of phoenix.
