Anyone want to try and fix up this picture for me or give me some tips on how to fix it? Was going to include this picture from my friend's grand march in a graduation gift for her, but need a little help... (Even though it's blurry, I love it because she's looking straight at me from a great distance away...)

It's not so bad actually...if you add a slight touch of USM it will sharpen the details of your friend...but it will also emphasize the blur around the edges (your friend stood still everyone around her was moving) but you can take it one step further and actually make it appear that you ment to do it... Do you have a Zoom-out Filter for your editor? Applying a Zoom-Out filter will by default leave your subject in focus (as she is dead center) and edges will take on a dreamy effect.

This was the direction I was thinking...possible a little more than I was thinking...but the same direction :)

I don't have much to work with and I may have went overboard on the sharpening, but here is my best quick shot at it.

First pass was a radial blur with a setting of 24. Here it is again with a setting of 15

I think most of us are thinking the same - increase the blur outside the subject and make it look intentional. We all seem to have varying degrees of application of the blur though. Here's my crack at it:


And you could also isolate, crop and desat the background (would be much better with original size photo):

I think a combination of kpriest't two concepts would work. We all know about desat and isolated color on a subject, but I bet your friend would love it. It is actually not a bad picture. Good luck. Let us know what you decide.

That's the one I was thinking...

But Moodville's puts the subject in a dream on one of her dream days...so now I'm torn (sheesh it's not even my pic)... :)
