I just got a laptop and I was wondering how you cats hook the camera up to the laptop and bypass the camera card? If I could do this it would be so much easier

does your camera have usb out or firewire out? also you'll need some capture software

Not sure what you mean with bypass the camera card. You mean take out the CF card hook it up to the computer and have images go directly to the hardrive? Don't think that's possible (at work now so have the manual here to read up on it) It would be very restricting trying shoot that way though. You'd have to carry the laptop around while you're shooting.

As for just hooking it up to the laptop. Just through the USB port as per normal.

I haven't bothered looking at it I'm happy with photoshop. I am aware that you can hook it up and use the computer to take the photo but does it bypass the CF card? Could you take photos this way with no CF card in the camera? I'll be doing some reading of the manual when I get home from work.

I would not think it would be very practical to take pictures this way though. Only advantage could be for a timelapse of some sort.
