I apologize if this was discussed before, but I cannot do a search, because it has been disabled. My question concerns LEDs on digital SLRs. How come it is impossible to use an LED to frame shots on dSLRs like you can with fixed lens digital cameras? Thank you. |

no LED's LCD's maybe, LCD: Liquid Crystal Display
SLRs are single lens reflex cameras, the light coming in from the lens hits a mirror, reflects the light into the viewfinder. there is no extra sensor that can be displayed on the screen, only after the image is alreay taken then can it be display the image |

Eh, it's how it was done with film and sometimes those LCD's make shooting in the sun a hassle because you can't always see what your shooting.

Aren't, regular angle viewfinders cheaper? it seems silly to attach a mini-camera(even though it doesn't record it still has a cmos and an lcd) to your camera.

Actually there is a LED device that you can screw into the tripod thread s that will illuminate a subject to compose so you can take a shot in the dark.
It works like some higher end non-slr cameras like Sony's that shines a light on an object to get the focus and thus you can shot and compose.

My old F717 had that - startled my friends the first few times I took pictures of them and they weren't paying attention.. wondering where the heck that matrix-patterned laser is coming from!
