see i tried to do this:

thats from skiprow btw.. thanks skiprow!
then what happened is the portions in the boxes changed its color into
kinda like an x-ray/undeveloped film kind of "color".. and i know it shouldnt change its color, so how can i put it back on its original color? and how do i change its background into white and let the rest of the picture that isnt in the box turn white? THANKSZ A LOT, I REALLY HOPE SOMEONE COULD HELP ME!

Are you working in RGB?

Where skip says hit SHFT+Ctrl+I - you might have hit CTRL+I and inverted the colors

The directions are in the photographer's notes. The keystroke you used probably did invert rather than inverse the selection. Make sure the background colour is white before you start the process so when you delete everything but the vertical stripes you're left with your background colour.
