I just got my D70.
I really dont know how to update to 2.0. Do I really have to?
I'm kind of concerned that I might mess somthing up in my camera if I try to update. Any comments on this will be greatly appreciated

It is a painless process. But if it makes you nervous, you don't NEED the update. Your D70 will kick butt with or with/out it.

Thanks, I may work up the nerve and try later

The update is meant to be used, so I wouldn't hesitate to upgrade. I upgraded and like the improvements.

You can find out which version of the firmware your camera is using by looking at the Setup Menu, Firmware ver. (pg. 167 in you manual) If it is a new camera it might already have 2.0. If not it really is painless.

Have fun!

I didn't realize a new update was available. I just downloaded and installed it. Sure is an improvement on the menu look.

You don't have to, but you will benefit from improved performance on this one. Sometimes the updates are to correct something minor that few people use, but other times it is a necessity. You might as well get practice with updating it now...

The biggest danger is your battery dying during the few minutes of use it gets during the process. It should last for hours on a full charge, so that really isn't a concern.

Simply follow the instructions and you'll be able to install it which i did on my own unit,if you still have a doubt that you might mess something with your camera, why don't you bring your unit to your nearest service center and let them do the job for you and i know it's free and this will also leave you worry free.

I hope you did it. It's really easy. It basically turns the D70 into the D70s minus the 2" screen. I recentlly bought the D70 because it was cheeper than the 70s and then did the upgrade for free. What's not to love.
