What is this 1.5 Multilpier in Nikon D50 / D70. Does it mean if I have a 35-80 Lense mounted then the effective focal would be 50-120MM??. That would mean I won't have a wide angle lense if I use my older AF D leses on D50 / D70!! |

It's due to the crop factor. In effect your 35-80 will give the results as per 50-120, this make telephoto easy and wide angle hard.

That's one reason folks that used 35mm SLR's don't like about dSLR's,but if you are a wildlife, or sports photographer the tele is a god send.

The tele part is GREAT!
I just got a 70-300 lens..on my rebel that works as a 112-480. That is a 480mm 5.6 lens!
Sure, the wide part hurts..but it is a reason to get a new lens!
