Haven't we seen more than enough freekin flowers in the Macro and Color challenges that just recently finished?
Wish there could be some sort of "next challenge" vote on the main page.. |

Hopefully it will be a chance for us all to stretch our imaginations and try to think up something a little different then the ol' cliche flower shot. I call it a CHALLENGE!

Maybe it is some kind of binge therapy to help force a stop to the insanity. This weeks is flowers and pets, maybe next weeks will be flags and kids. People will be so sick of seeing them that they will hopefully be drawn to thinking outside of the box. Oh, what am I thinking. |

Did you ever think that it might be helping us to get more photos to sell as prints. I don't mind the flowers. What is the big deal anyway?

Fauna is not pets. Fauna is the "wild" animals in a certain area.

I think this might not be the best topic for a challenge, as 'flora' and 'fauna' tend to mean the plants or animals of a particular area considered as a whole...ie 'Nevada's flora and fauna are well adapted to the arid terrain.' It's vague. There's going to be a lot of confusion, and it's hard to photograph if you live in a large inner city.
I think the best photographic interpretation might be to include a plant or animal (ideally more than one kind) in their native surroundings. As Carsten said it definitely doesn't mean Sparky chasing a ball, or a flower from the shop, though we'll get a lot of those. I won't mark 'em down, if only 'cause the challenge topic is vague.

I agree with you Sonifo. It is Spring and things are in bloom or getting close.
Why fight it?
Just go with it or skip it. If your not into Flora, wait till next week.
All the negative *$^@ doesn't really help.

I've just got home to find the neighbourhood cats have spent the afternoon ripping the tops off all my flowers.
This was my first attempt at growing flowers (hell, this is my first house with a garden!) so I'm absolutely gutted. :-/ |

You know how to keep the cats out of your garden? Put some strong smelling potporrie(sp) in there. They hate the smell.

Well...maybe you now have a subject for some "extinct" local fauna... |

LOL. Either you've accidently typed 'fauna' instead of 'flora' or you've got a *very* evil mind |
