I'm thinking of up-grading my Sony cyber shot DSC-P31 and I was looking at a Sony Mavica 250.
My question is although both are 2 megapixel cameras would there be any dramatic change in image quality or should I just look for a 4 or 5 megapixel camera? |

I think go for 4 or 5Mpix camera. you can play a lot on a picture, cropping/resizing. somehow the image quality improves when u downsize a bigger resolution pic to a smaller one. |

Depending on your budget .. I think that a 3MP is good enough. Check the website to look at the review for the quelity of the pictures. I think it's better to have a good 3MP than a bad 4MP. I try to frame the best I can at the original shot time. Lionel |

Give this a little thought. The Sony F707 has just been discontinued... It has a 5x optical zoom and 5 megapixal... As the rich and famous upgrade to the Sony F717, there will likely be some 707s showing up on Ebay for a fraction of their original $900 cost. I'm hoping to see some refurbished ones pop up on the Sony site too.

I just took a look at the F717 specs to see how it differs from the F707. All I could see readily was the addition of iso 800 and the addition of a 1/2000th shutter speed over the current 1/1000. I wonder if dpreview has had this camera yet... ?

Definately go with at least 3MP Kaneda. Better output, and more versatility.
