I have set my D70 to use Adobe RGB as the default color space (Color Mode II). The files correctly show up on the D70 as "_DSC..." files, where the "_" prefix indicates an Adobe RGB file.

When I open the file in Photoshop Elements 2, go to Print Preview, turn on "Show More Options" at the bottom of the window and select "Color Management", the Source Space shows up as "Untagged RGB" instead of the expected "Adobe RGB (199".

I have set up Elements to use full color management (Edit -> Color Settings).

Does anyone have an idea how to fix this? Will it make a difference to my prints (I have a Canon i9900 printer)?

Thanks in advance!

I think that the latest firmware upgrade did something about this

Thanks Colda - I have seen the upgrade before, but do not believe that it addresses my problem. From Nikon's web site:

When the mode dial was set to an exposure mode (P, S, A, or M) and II selected for the Color mode setting in the Custom item of the Optimize image menu, and then an option other than Custom (such as Portrait) selected from the Optimize image menu, JPEG images captured after this procedure were recognized as having the Adobe RGB color space when opened in applications with a color-management function such as Adobe Photoshop. This problem has been corrected.

From what I understand from the above, you had to select something other than "Custom" from the Optimize menu, and then the D70 would incorrectly report the image as being in the Adobe RGB space.

That being said, unless someone else can confirm the problem or point me to what I am doing wrong, I will do the firmware upgrade and post my results back here.

I've now updated the firmware in the D70 to 1.03, but the problem remains!?!?!?

Anyone have an idea? Has anyone else seen this?

I have the same with PS version 6.0.

When opening the image it does not recognise the image has been taken with Adobe RGB colorspace. So I just assign the correct colorspace during opening of the file, problem solved.
