get a PC?

What reader? What OS? Is this a new problem or new hardware or what?

using a USB port i assume? does any other USB devices work (like a printer )?

You had to expect someone to blurt the infamous "Get a PC line". Are you using Mac OS9? Is your reader meant for USB 2.0? If so, it won't work. If you go to apple system profiler, it will recognize the drive, but it won't mount. You would need to upgrade to OSX, and get a USB 2.0 PCI card. If your drive is USB 1.1 compatable, then it should work. Helpful? If this doesn't solve the problem, you'll need to explain more details.

Assuming that the reader and the camera are seperately being tried, what camera? What reader? Did the manual require installing a driver or extension? Details, or I can't help you.

she has a Canon G5 and sandisk reader.. has had the camera for over a year and the reader close to a year.. its the first time she has had the problem.. you shouldnt have to download a driver for a mac they pick it up automaticly.. but she said she would try it anyway.. she has OSX and USB 2.0 last night was the first time she had the problem with this.. she tried loading it through the camera directly as well as through the reader.. nothing.. she tried her friends computer.. nothing.. I had this problem with my comp (pc) last week and the next day it worked fine so it may be a fluck but i wasnt sure if anyone else was having a problem..

I had such an issue, and switched cables. I replaced the cable attached to the reader with the one supplied with the camera, and -presto- it worked.

If not, I'd try a different reader, a new one even, since they're not very expensive.

Sorry, I don't know what to tell you. If other USB devices work fine, I would guess that the problem would coincidentally be two broken devices which is unlikely. Are you plugging directly into the USB drive in the computer, or into a USB port/hub? Maybe the USB hub doesn't draw enough power to mount the device. I'm still not sure why it isn't working.

Have you tried the card reader on your pc? does it work?

No - could it be the card reader has died?

yes - points to a problems with the usb ports on the mac -

do you have a usb card read that you can try on the mac?

Has she installed anything new lately (hardware or software)? perhaps there is some conflict or something was overwritten?

Has she checked for viruses?
