Not to stir anything up, but HOW was this done? It seems slightly impossible to have that kind of edge-distortion with the camera and not an image editing program? A lense perhaps?
I'm not asknig who took it to reveal themselves, just an explanation of how it was achieved.

Most likely some kind of teleconverter - looks like a wide angle to me.

Langdon - not my photo, but it looks like barrel distortion. Getting to close with a wide angle lense is one way to do it.
