.. is coming to town, and I have plans about buying a new lens very soon. It'll be a indoor-concert. What should I look for? My budget isn't very big at the moment, I guess I'd like to spend maximum 1000$
Thanks.

I have just photographed a gig, I used a Canon 70-200mm F4L, but I had the use of a balcony where I could use my tripod.
I also used my 50mm 1.8 Mk2 when I was closer to the stage.
If you have not got a standard zoom of F2.8 or less, I would get that and if you had I would get the 70-200mm F2.8L (the IS if you can afford it).
I am going to get the Tamron 28-75mm XR Di F2.8 next this should be good as it is sharp and compact. Good Luck
David

Ah, ok. So the 70-200 F4L works fine? (Looks nice to me.. :)
I see.. But there is no way I can afford the 70-200mm F2.8L now, hehe. If you want, you can have my wallet. ;) I've got nothing to lose.
I know a guy who bought the Tamron that you're talking about. He's never been more happy. You'll like it! And btw, that woman on your pictures looks a bit like Rachel Stevens!
Thanks, David. :)

Thanks for the recommendation, Tom. I'll look around and time will show what lense I'll choose. :)

Deep Purple is a fine old rock `n roll band.
What lens is most appropriate depends a lot on how far from the stage you are going to be. In addition to the ones already mentioned think about the Canon 135mm f2.0 L USM. It's a great lens that fits under your budget limit (just barely), but it's not a zoom so distance is critical.
Hope you enjoy the concert. And if you get some good pics, don't forget to share a few with us.

Yeah! Deep Purple is lovely. And I still don't believe that they're coming to my little town here in Norway. It's just unbelieveable.. :)
I don't know how far away from the stage I have to be, but I hope I can get one of these pass-thingies. Would love it..
I'm thinking about the 70-200mm F2.8L, so my mom may have to raise my budget a little. ^_^ But thanks for your recommendation, Harvey. Maybe that'll be the lens for me.. ;)

Do you already have clearance to take pics? Normally, cameras aren't allowed. |

yeah I have to warn you I just came back from a Mark Knopfler concert and I wasnt allowed to take in any kind of recoring equipment. They were very strict and my attempts to even sneak it inside were met with harsher searches. They get down and dirty when groping you ;)

No, I haven't. That's the reason I want to get this pass the press uses. But I live in such a small town, and I often see people bring their cameras to concerts here. So if I don't get a pass, I guess it'll be allright anyway. :)
Saurabh, I'm sorry you weren't allowed to take pictures at the concert. Mark Knopfler is one great guitarist!
