I love the look of old barns and houses. Here is one I saw on a drive.

Puma,

Great picture, but whats with the massive halo's around the barn and tree? Is that because of Dodging?

Nice barns! I like them, too.

I was going to enter this in the Ansel Adams challenge but I can't seem to get the tones right. Gave up and went with something totally different.

that's a great picture Puma.....I like the tones and the clutter of it- it has everything, the old trucks, old fence, tree , powerlines and of course the barn. Lots of character ! ;-)

Puma,

You could GREATLY enhance this image by drawing a selection to exclude the barn itself before doing your burning of the sky, so you don't get the halo effect, and by applying a gradient mask to the sky as well. Need to know how? Ask me, and post the original so I can show you.

Best, Robt.

Actually Robt is correct. This was my entry in the December, 2003 freestudy. I took a different way to work looking for interesting subjects. This barn caught my eye. I have been travelling the same way to work for 25 years. Once in a while when I have the time I will try taking a different route. I recommend everyone to do that once in a while. It will not only get you out of the same daily routine a little but its amazing what you will see.

Damn, that's a classic "Ansel" except in color. I'd liek to think this is what he'd do if he were shooting digital...

Ansel Adams also shot colour though he is more widely known for his black and white images. I agree this one is classic Ansel.

I love them too, and we've got them all over the place out here. I'm trying to get out and shoot more of them.
