Damn, that's a classic "Ansel" except in color. I'd liek to think this is what he'd do if he were shooting digital...

Robt.

Ansel Adams also shot colour though he is more widely known for his black and white images. I agree this one is classic Ansel.

Yes, of course he shot color too, but he couldn't make it look like THAT in his day. This is what he might be working at IF he had Photoshop to use as a digital darkroom. It's like the color analog of what he did with B/W.

I love them too! I just took this one last night. Can't wait until the summer when it's easier to get closer to all the deserted barns around here. Right now the 5 or so feet of snow makes it somewhat difficult to explore different angles.

Here's a barn photo from one of my first challenges on DPC.

PUMA sent me his RAW file from the image that started this thread so I could show him what I meant about using a gradation layer on the sky; here's my quick take on it:

Note the absence of burn halo on the sky/object interfaces now, and the realistic apperance of the sky. This was done by maing a selection of the sky itself, and applying a deep blue-to-transparent gradtation to this selection, then fading the gradation layer and adjusting its hue/saturation for best appearance. The rest of the image is pretty much as it appeared in his RAW file, just a little boost in red/yellow and a little corner burning to contain the image.

That's a striking image, marjo, but you've gone a bit too far with the noise reduction in the sky, which no longer looks real.

It's not quite a barn, but I love the old feel of it.

Thank you bear. But it sure is pretty!
Seriously, I think I'm going to skip the AA challenge. I can't seem to process/edit worth a darn!

It takes a LOT of practice to do really good B/W from color digital originals. Keep plugging away at it.
