(The first one would have never been believed as real color, but actually was!)

It's not that I've had enough pink.. but I've *definitely* had enough pink FLOWERS.. oy vey.. I had to stop voting because I was *this* close to just giving every flower shot a 3.

Ah.. that explains why my decent flower shot is doing that bad.

It shouldn't explain too much, Artyste only gets to vote once - just like the rest of us! ;0)

Where are all these pink flowers anyway...all I see up here is snow!

I do not agree with you.
I knew for sure that this challenge would have a billion flowers in it, and I was going to vote down all of those. But surprisingly, there are so many decent to wonderful flower photos there, that I just couldn't get enough of!
I find it amazing to see what people can do to simple flowers.
I admit no flower got a 10 from me yet, but many are over the 6!
And those flowers by BradP I think are a good example of the more then the average flowers.

I said *almost*.. which is why I stopped voting for now.. I'll come back later when I'm not so fatigued ;)

My floral shot (apologies for yet another flower) has remained steady around 5. I didn't vote on my entry because I didn't know if it was OK to do so! DUH! I'll know better next time.

Dat,

You can't vote on your own image. And if you could, it's far from too late. You can vote right up to the dealine, and you can change both your vote and your comments on any image that has received either or both. In fact, I use a "tiered" voting system; as soon as the challenge is closed and posted, I wade in and make a sweep through all the images sorting them into 6's and 4's; the first group is the pool from which I'll pick the above average scores, and the second group is the also-rans (in my mind of course).

Then, over the course of the voting period I'll sort the 6's group much more carefully into my final rankings, and once I've done that I'll comment on those I wish to comment upon. Once I have that high-rankers pretty well squared away, I move down to the lower group and move those around similarly.

Robt.

Double Duh!
Robt, you have it down to a fine art. I go back to check and sort too. I realised when I began to vote that it would be necessary. But I thought I saw a screen when first submitting that enables you to vote on your own submission. Perhaps I dreamt it? I'll get the hang of this place slowly I s'pose.

Rennie,
What you probably saw was the preview image for your submission. It allows you to see what your shot will look like to others during the voting process. Gives you the chance to second guess (and third guess and fourth guess) yourself before voting starts and it's too late to pull it! ;-)

ok... I must really suck! I don't even have a flower shot and I'm below 5 (currently at 4.6). What does it take to get into the 5's around here?

I REALLY thought I had a good one this time! My current goal is just to place in the top half... Still haven't done this!

Your old and new entry is in the top half...in the top 37% in fact and in the 5's!

When one considers the talent in this group,,, a 5 is in itself a major achievement in my books. I also am fairly new to this and can tell you that I never cease to marvel at what these wonderful people can achieve.

In addition, when I consider the assistance people provide, and the pletora of information that I have obtained here to date,,, the scores I may or may not get are not the prime issue of consideration for me.

What you can gain from this site is far more significant than the scores you may get on a particular image... at least from my point of view.

Me too. So how would this one have done?

I took it out because I thought it wasn't technically brilliant. Maybe I should have stuck with it.

And I completely forgot about this horse ... though the background is problematic. It's outside a cafe. It was yellow last year.

Maybe this would have done better than the better pic which is laboring under a 4.2.
