I expected there to be a mad rush to my prints, but ALAS, that is not the case... LOL

Just curious to know who, and what prints have sold so far.

Anybody?

There was an earlier thread started by someone, but it's buried already!

I just counted, and there's currently 323 prints posted.

I recall that "byetco" sold one of his sunset/pier shots.

Here's the earlier thread.

I suspect part of the problem is we all want to price our own photos at retail, but want to buy photos at wholesale or cost-plus.

I would like the option of offering a "member discount" price, or just make it part of the terms that members can buy prints at some percentage-off the public price (a real inducement to become a paid member).

I am going to finish my basement sometime within the next year and I think I am going to furnish my basement walls with nothing but DPCPrints.com Prints. I think it's cool to personally know the artist of things hanging on your walls. That way when people like them I can say I know them :-)

Later!

That's a wonderful idea! Did you see my portfolio "wink, wink" :)

Personally, I wouldn't want to offer discounts to anybody... If I were to sell anything, I'm already losing 50% plus the base price to somebody else... I'm already making less than half of what the print is being sold for. I'd be more willing to offer discounts if my profit were more than 50%.

I had the same idea for the wall on my staircase. Just need more first place winners to get their prints up. :)

by the same token, it would cost you a monetary investment to find a place to host your images, generate publicity, etc. since this site costs you nothing beyond the regular membership, it's a great deal.

I had received interest from a Seattle based photo company to represent my Seattle images. Here are the main points.

- I keep 50% of the sale
- If somebody wants to purchase a print (some buyers want the digital file for use in brochures, Web sites, etc) I would have to have it printed myself and shipped myself.
- They have exclusive rights to sell the photograph until the end of the contract.
- They want a portfolio of at least 50 photos and fresh ones weekly

The only advantage to using this company is that when a Web search for "Seattle Photographs" comes up, they are listed in the top 5 search results.

DPChallenge.com is currently #1 at google for 'digital photography contest', and we hope to acheive the same status for DPCPrints.com for print-related searches. That's gotta be worth some bragging rights, yea? ;)

Speaking of selling, do any of you have a source of determining how much to sell photographs for. I'm referring to selling photographs outside of DPC. I am doing some photography for a minor league baseball team and they are going to want to buy prints and the rights to some of the pictures. Any suggestions on how to price my photographs?

ME TOO! It's funny because I looked at your Sunset and then I checked out my account and my "Fire in the Clouds" has been purchased! Whoever bought my photo, thank you VERY much! Amy, let's speculate. Our benefactor loves sunsets and/or our camera!
