is a skew transformation alllowed to straighten part of an image due to a wide angle lens

No it is not permitted, since anything that moves any pixels isn't allowed in the 'basic editing' rules.

Manic (or any SC),
I understand why a perspective distortion correction wouldn't be allowed under the "basic" edit rules, because it is not an over-all adjustment.

What about size/aspect ratio changes if they are applied over-all width or length? Is this a legal adjustment for a basic edit challenge?

Gringo,

Actually perspective distortion or skew correction IS applied to the overall image... Following manic's reasoning below, aspect ratio changes would involve "moving" pixels in either the horizontal or vertical direction and would not be allowed.

SC may feel differently, but that's my take on it.

Thanks Robert,
I did ask this same question back in July 2003 and didn't really get an official yes or no answer on it... so, I thought I'd ask one more time. I think this time I might enter the shot. But I did want to make every effort to avoid a DQ.
