If anybody is interested I am selling my Canon AL-1 on ebay. The auction includes a Samsonite camera bag, canon 50MM F1.4 lens, 28-70mm lens, 80-200mm lens, 2x extender, and of course my Canon AL-1 Body. The camera is in pretty good shape, minor cosmetic damage, common for such an old camera, and a broken battery door latch. The battery door latch is common for the AL-1, I seriously sent emails fo 75 camera shops around the US and a replacement part is no longer available. The easiest solution has been to use a bit of gaffers or duct tape to keep the door shut. This works great and is not visible at all.
I know it is probably a joke to advertise my film camera setup on a digital forum..but hey mb somebody out there is interested. If so the link is:
//cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3863857785
oh yeah...all of my lenses have skylight filters attached (of course). The auction starts at $175, and I have a "buy it now" price of $250. I think this is a pretty good deal for everything that is included.
If you have any questions please email me at mike@katip.net

I loved my AL-1, I just dont find myself using it much anymore thanks to my digital rebel...
how much would you be willing to pay for just the lens? nobody has bid on my auction yet, so I could remove that lens from the auction. send me an email at mike@katip.net asap.
you could also place a bid on the entire auction and sell the body and any lens you do not need. just a thought.

That's a really slamming deal as far as I can tell. The 50mm 1.4 new (around here) is $400+ CND I think. If it's still around in a few days I might be interested. |

i might just bid on the package deal.
the meter on my AL-1 is finnicky, and the spare body might be worth having...
for the 50mm f:1.4 only - i'd offer $65.
i did a quick search, and that seems about what they are going for.

$65 does sound about right for the 50mm. If you do somehow have an al-1 with a working battery door, you cold always swap it to my camera! lol. |

my battery door works ;}
as does everything but the damn meter.
its about 2 stops under the proper meter reading.
more a nuisance than anything.
main thing is don't have much cash right now....
if i can swing it i'll just bid on the whole package.
