I think it would be better if instead of having to vote on all the pictures you should be able to just vote for your favorite top 3. Which means showing all pictures in thumbnail form then which ever 3 you think is the best them you could click on them to vote for it. You get to pick your 1st, 2nd, and 3rf place choices. I think it would be alot easier.

right now, you don't 'have' to vote for any photos. however, it's true, you cannot just vote for 3 photos, you do have to vote for 20% or more for your votes to count. that way, everyone gets votes (and hopefully also comments), not just those that are picked to be in the top 3 by someone.

personally, i like the current ruling.

I agree, if everyone only voted for three images there would be some participants ending up with no votes, no score and no place.

I don think voting on only three photos would be fair! After all we are here to learn both to take photos and to see them through other peoples eyes.

Agreed. It is not the end result so much as the learning of technique.

Am I missing something? I thought they took away the minimum ammount of votes. The 20% thing was taken away over a week ago. Please correct me if I'm wrong. I'll try to find where they posted that.

if you have voted on less than 20%, your votes will not count. it is not a requirement to vote to be able to participate though. sorry for the confusion.

I found the post that I was looking for. It was by drew and said that all requirements were removed (not just one, it was plural) until they can come up with a better system, likewise, that message never came up on my screen this week saying that I need to vote for 20% in order to count. Here is that post by Drew on The 28th. It says...
"Sometimes things just don't work like they're supposed to. :)

Thanks everyone for the feedback (positive and negative) on the voting requirement. We've decided to remove the requirements until we can come up with a better system. Specifically, users who participate regularly shouldn't be punished for lack of availability during a week they want to submit. Also, there are a lot of (ahem, lame) users who have left really poor, useless comments recently, and I fear this has something to do with the requirement. To those users, you suck.

To everyone else ... sorry :) We'll get this thing right!

Drew "

You got to it before me. I could be wrong, guess I had read it, and didn't see the 20% message on my main page and figured they had removed all requirements. Sorry if I'm wrong. I'm loosing my mind anyway. lol

I beleive the 20% rule has always been in place.

The rule you are talking about was a recent one that said you had to Vote on 95% of the images in the current challenge OR Comment on 25% of the images in the current challenge in order to qualify to SUBMIT a photo to the next weeks challenge. This is the one that was removed.

Heather,

I believe the 20% rule is still in effect in order to have your vote count. I've only voted on a few images thus far this week, and on my home page it says:

Don't forget! You must vote on at least 20% of the photographs for your votes to be counted.
