I've signed up as a member, but can not vote. Well, I was able to from another computer (eventually), but every time I go to vote on a challenge it says that I can only post comments. Very odd.

It doesn't look like you're showing up as a member yet. Perhaps your transaction hasn't quite gone through yet?

Well I can vote in wind, but not broken....

That's because wind is an open challenge and registered users can vote. When you say you "signed up," do you mean you paid or just that you registered? If you just registered, you will only be able to vote in the open challenges. If you paid, when your transaction is completed (can take a bit sometimes), you will be able to vote in all challenges.

Well, that's strange, because I didn't read anywhere that you have to be a paying member to vote in member challenges. In fact, it says that you have to be a paying member to submit, but that register users can "vote on challenges".

Either they need to make it clear that there are two levels of voting rights, registered and paid-register, or make it so that registered members can vote in all challenges, as the registration implies.

Strange - in my 2 years here, that's the first time that anyone has mentioned that. I thought everything under the sun had already come up. Huh.

OK - so how does this get resolved? (One way or another :)

You're right, that does need to be clarified. That was changed very early after membership was introduced (in response to a member poll), but the FAQ and other places were never updated. What's amazing is that in about 2 years, you're the first person to bring it up!

I'll draft up some updated language and send it to the admins to upload.

I actually think that everyone should be able to vote in member challenges, I have never understood that. More votes would not be a bad thing, and it may spark enough intrest to gain more members.

a member who paid is more likely to come back and vote on many challenges, while a registered user doesn't always vote consistently; many sing up, and 3 challenges later stops comming. Having the member-only voting makes for a more reliable source for vote, so there is no harm in keeping it that way.
at least thats the way i see it.

I think we would have overall lower scores because anyone can get registered and just vote down for pleasure or spite. I think it should stay the way it is. Also makes it harder for people to boost their own scores by getting friends to join only to vote a 10 on their photo.
