Hello again! Tired of seeing my name on the list of posts?

This will be a cat project, we can do breeds or just plain old mixed breeds. If you wish to participate in this project again email me at: DNeufer@stny.rr.com with CAT in the subject line so I know where to file the email. I will update this post as the names come in. The cut off number on this project will be 30. If you have a picture already picked out please provide a link or attach the picture for viewing. Thanks!

Deannda

Goal

The goal of this project is to represent as best as possible the global diversity of the cat community. The main work lies with you the participant, it is your responsibility to do the homework and find just the shot you want for your entry.

NOTE: Similar to the other colaborative projects - the goal here is a poster sized image photos from photographers who love cats. Each photographer will sign a release granting the right to use the photograph in this project, and in return will receive nonexclusive rights to sell the resulting combined poster and keep any profits earned from those sales. A fixed price schedule will be determined for sales on DPC Prints only, but participants will be able to sell the project elsewhere at varying prices.

Eligibility and Selection

This project is open to all Registered Users of DPChallenge (but is not a DPC-sponsored project). All breeds and types of cats will be considered for this project.

Deadline:

I would like to not really set a specific deadline at this point. I would rather wait and have the best possible photos for this project. And give people a chance to get involved but with the holidays it might take more time.

Legal:

Since, by submitting a photo to this project, you are giving the other participating photographers the right to sell/market the entire presentation in unmodified form, each person will be required to sign a release form specifically for the photograph they enter, specifically for this project. This will also give the other participants the right to market and sell the final product.

Marketing Suggestions:

Since everyone participating in this project is already a part of the DPC community, but some are not members yet, you, as an individual will have the right to sell the finished product in any market of your choice. IF you choose to use DPCPrints, there will be set prices for the final product, no one will be allowed to undercut someone else in order to sell more prints.

Size and Resolution of Submitted Photograph

I will let everyone know in each individual project what final size will be require but will ask that the final photograph entered be at least a 300 DPI resolution. Since we will have a different number of people on each project the final size will be posted accordingly after I get out my calculator and get my math brain into gear.

If you have any other question or want to participate, please email me directly as it will be much easier for me to contact you in return and add you to the email list for the project. You can click my name and click my email in my profile, I have changed it so it shows.

Thank you everyone, so far we have aboard, if you have not contacted me directly by email, please do so asap. I'll try to PM everyone that has expressed interest on this thread so far.

Thanks!

Deannda

I have a pretty mixed cat, or at least I think she is. :) I have this one and if you think she'll work, I will go through my photo and pick out the best one.

edited: After looking at this one, I think it's probably my favorite one of her.

I'd like to be included. I have several cat shots in my port already and access to about two dozen cats. (Before I get reprimanded, let me explain. They are feral and barn cats that came with the property. We have had the ones we could catch spayed and neutered.)

Hi..I would like to take a stab at this being a newbie here and all. I live in Rhode Island and will try to get a picture of a Rhode Island Red for you. It is a specific chicken native to only Rhode Island. I also live very close to Roger Willams Park Zoo. The zoo has a huge array of animals in natural settings. From Polar Bears & Lions, Cheetahs and Giraffes and even Elephants. I will ahvet ocheck on the camera thing at the gate in the zoo..there is also some beautiful old building there in the park..But most importantly..there is the Museum of Natural History there as well and I know for sure they have a stuffed Doo Doo Bird there, Saber Toothed Tiger and some other now extinct animals.
Let me know if I am in and what you nee for pictures: ie: subject, resolutions, size...etc..please keep in mind I am a newbie to all of this and will try my best with my little Nikon Coolpix3200.

I think you should post in collaborative project #4 or/and #8. You sound like you could help with either wildlife or A-Z.

I have a few pictures of our daughters kitten. We adopted this kitten after the Mother Cat (Farel Cat) got run over by a car. The kitten was found under the house at one week old left to die. My daughter named her PepperAnn, because of her color and sex. PepperAnn is know just part of the family. Here is one pic.

Thats six cats so far. Any one who wants to participate may email Neuferland or myself, for I am now helping in the organization process. If you would like to participate in any of the other three animal projects (#4,#6, and #8) please post describing your interest. You are encouraged to particpate in multiple projets if you would like.

That makes seven people for cats. If needed, you may be allowed to submit more than one photo for the project, but for now, choose the one you like the most.

I love this one!

Okay, I'm back from the barn. What a long day, got there at 7:45 and was going ALL Day long! And horses everywhere and do you think I got ANY decent shots? Well, I don't know yet, haven't even looked at them yet. ;)

Anyway, thanks everyone for helping and thank you Zap for watching and helping organize these so far. The other threads look great! I'm going to eat, hug my son, look at my pictures and go through my mail and be back later!

Hi all,
I'm very new in photographing, too. I've just started my own project about dogs and cats and I have some pictures that I'd like to share with you guys. Her name is Boots, my very smart and special friend. I also wrote a story about her and if possible, I will make a book about her. I hope i won't have a problem with the right to use it for myself, if you pick this picture.
Hope you like it.

Okay! This is great, so far I have had 9 people respond to me via email expressing interest in the project. Could the rest of you also respond to me via email so I may add you to the list.

As for the people who are new to DPC or photography, you are more than welcome to join in! I think this is a wonderful opportunity to get to know new people, learn new techniques and make new friends!

Welcome!

Deannda
Glad to see so many new faces!

I have four cats, but they do not like to pose for me! Since you don't have a deadline, maybe I can get some time to coax them into a few shots. I would love to be part of this project but another problem may be the resolution. My kodak only shoots at 230dpi. Sometimes I can get the resampling to work, but not always. I'll give it a try though!

Okay, we are up to 16, the 15 listed above and myself on this project. If we can get at least 4 more I will start figuring out the specifications on the size needed and such. For those who already have shots you want to use, if it is not already in your portfolio please upload a copy of the image for us to see. For those who are not members yet, please either post the photograph somewhere on line and provide a link or send it to me directly and I will make a special folder on my PBase account so the other participants can view them.

My thought process on this is that the image has to be approved by everyone involved since we all have a say in the final product I think we should all have a say in what shots are used. Also if the collective group can see a way to improve the shot either through post processing or reshooting, that can be shared also.

So come on people, I know there are lots of other cat lovers and cat pictures out there because I have a TON of them in my favorites file!
