I just started using photoshop and i'm confused about submitting focused photos for a challenge.
The problem is when I take the picture it is sharp and clear. I have to reduce the size to no more than 150 kb, right? But when I submit the photo and view it, it is blurry and out of focus.
Some advice would be greatly appreciated.

you'll have to give us an example. focus doesn't change in an image when processing it. what you may be experiencing is the side-effects of resampling, which (among other things) leads to a lack of sharpness. try the 'unsharp mask' in photoshop and play around with it for a little bit. when exporting, use the file compression to take it down below the 150k mark.

Well, I didn't use file compression. I just resized the image down.
That could be the problem. Thanks for the help. |

it sometimes happens that the sharpness of the image is affected by the downsizing, in that case I suggest you look the tutorials on this site on how to use unsharp mask to sharpen it a bit more (illegal in open challenges) or downsize it in steps of 10%. That's legal and works much better than directly downsizing it.

Okay, yeah..I can't figure that out. How do you use file compression instead of just resizing the photo?
It seems I could just load the photo into photoshop, resize the image, then save and upload it to Dpc. All of this works except the image becomes fuzzy with the transfer. |

Resizing reduces the sharpness, but they don't go out of focus. As suggested by the other meember, try USM

I figured it out guys. Thanks for the help. All I had to do was save as and bring the image quality under jpeg options down to 5. That worked well.
Thanks again. |

Using jpeg quality 5 ??? using such poor jpeg quality will make the image look way dull, no colors, no sharpness |

I tried it with a higher quality and when trying to dl it to Dpc it said the file limit is exceeded. However, I checked it out and the photo doesn't really look any different on dpc than it does in photoshop, with or without a 5 quality.
I know what you mean, and it should make a difference but I can't see it. |

Have you tried doing Image resize first? Resize down to 640 on the longer side and then saveing as jpeg.

Bolot:
Click LEARN on the dpc bar, then TUTORIALS, scroll down and choose USING PHOTOSHOP TO PREPARE PHOTOS FOR DP CHALLENGE by EddyG. It was a great help to me.
