I was reading in another thread (linked to 'how to use a monopod') and the instructions were for someone looking through their right eye.
I use my left eye (shutting the right eye) when taking photos. What do you use? |

I have wondered this myself before ( what others use). I use my right, but neither seems completely natural or easy for me. I am not adept at closing one eye while keeping the other open, either.

Right for the view finder and left for double checking the scene. |

Right (left handed)
I know a few people that use both.

Left here also.
To add to this, I wonder if is based on if you are right or left handed...
I'm left handed (most of the time).
Dunno...what about you? |

I'm right handed and use my right eye to see through the viewfinder.

I step back from the camera, cross my eyes, and try to aim the intersection through viewfinder.

I have always used my right eye, but keep my left eye open so I can watch my subject, especially if it is moving.
I find I can track an object approaching with my left eye and anticipate when it will enter frame. |

Right handed, use my left eye for the viewfinder, but almost always keep my right eye open. My face hurts otherwise. LOL.
I should add that when I carry a bag, it's always on my left shoulder. Don't know why. Putting it on my right feels awkward. And I put my watch on my left wrist. I'm wierd. :)

doesn't this have to do with your dominant eye?
Look at an object, make a circle with your fingers of 1 hand (ok sign)
look with both eyes true the circle and focus on the object so you have it in the middle.
Now close one eye, then close the other eye.
The eye that has the object still in the middle is your dominant eye.
Left for me, righthanded...
