This was a pleasant surprise for me. I had no idea about it until i cam across the magazine whilst browsing in a shop but the 12th August UK issue of Amateur Photographer used one of my images for its cover...
Bought through an agency i'm with. Completely confused me when i can across it. One of the nice things about stock/agency is that you can upload a photo and forget about it and it can still work for you years later. I've done okk out of this image. When the Welsh band, Manic Street Preachers played Cardiff Castle a couple of years ago their management contacted me directly and bought the photo for a one-off poster of the event.

Beautiful cover -- congratulations! I can't believe that you could have never known your images was on a magazine cover had you not happened across it on your own. Even if bought as stock, I would have thought a photography magazine might have let you know. |

Yea, it came as a total surprise. Particularly as i couldn't see any sign of a credit anywhere in the magazine. I did think for a moment that someone had nicked it and sent it in as their own. It wasn't until a few days later that i showed it to someone and they notice a tiny credit to the agency on the first page so that was a relief and i'll probably get some money later in the year. But, yea. It's not a magazine I buy and if I hadn't browsed through the photography magazines in Sainsbury's I never would have know. I guess that's the way with stock agencies. In the past when i've got my payment receipt there have been vague listings such as 'Brochure-Mexico' and 'Calender-Germany'. Never really know where they end up.

Imagine the magazines that the 16 higher scoring images are providing covers for! |

Typically if the image is acquired by a "royalty-free" license the individual photographer will not be credited, though the stock agency may be (as apparently in this case, e.g. "Photo/Shutterstock"). If the image is under a "rights-managed" license then there is usually a specific credit ("PhotographerName/Getty Images") ... |
