Enjoy a temperate climate? Like the beach and mountains? How about housing? The San Diego Association of Realtors said that the region's average home price topped $593,000 last month, up 23 percent from a year earlier and up nearly 1 percent from August.
And if all that isn't bad enough:
(shot this morning on the way to work)
On a side note, our house has appreciated in value over $60,000/year for the last 4 years since we bought it. Time to cash out, move to an Island somewhere and retire....

think about fuel prices as a way to get consumers to be a bit more conservative with both how much they consume, and what type vehicle they purchase. there will be a time in the future when there is no more oil to pump. how much would a gallon be worth to you then?
not to mention the plethora of other items taken for granted that are produced from oil...
just a thought on a subject i see no argument in favor of complaining about.

I think I should buy a house on the western side of the Nevada. It will be waterfront property at some point.
On another note, yesterday the builder broke ground for our brand new house. WoooHooo!
As for gas, ask aKiwi how much he pays ;-)

Yikes...and I was complaining about paying $1.89 a gallon for gas here. I can't imagine having to pay $2.55!!!! The average house around my town is about $90,000. Guess the ocean breeze and scenic vistas come with a very hefty price tag!
And you guys wonder why I like Texas so much... ;o) |

It's a beautiful system...it even works cross-functionally to convert grams to mL and all kinds of fun stuff!
I'm not sure how long the resistance will last, but I'm sure metric will conquer in the end!

$90,000! And to think some people buy cars for $40-60,000!!! Maybe Texas wouldn't be so bad afterall . . . except I land in the hospital every time I enter your fair state!!

I lived in San Diego back in the mid '60s, in the Ocean Beach area. Really loved the climate in that beautiful city!
But was born and raised in west Texas where there is no state income tax(!) and the cost of living is darn near reasonable!
Thinking about moving there again soon, maybe the Sweetwater area. |

True, the metric system is worlds easier then our funky system. Everything is based on 10 and easily translates.
1km = 1000 meters = 100000 cm = 1000000 mm
1 mile = 1760 yards = 5280 feet = 63360 inches
And back on topic, the housing market on the west coast is actually having a huge effect on the housing market here in Arizona. You guys are buying up all the houses as investments and renting them out!

It is currently $5.95(US) per gallon in the UK... About 87p per litre. You might want to consider a different island to retire to.

Yes, in San Francisco we run about $2.35-$2.55 a gallon too.
I run by most of the gas stations with my little Prius.

I usually walk. All my jobs are within a 40-60 minute walk. Good way to lose some weight too :P
