Anybody else enjoy going in, finding which photos you've commented on, and comparing whether or not the photog found your comments useful in comparison to other's comments?
I have to admit it's been both eye-opening and also often kind of funny.....

| I've been pleasantly surprised that not just the positive pat on the back comments are getting checked as helpful. :-) |

I also review a commenter's comments to see how the other comments compare with one left for me. It gives me an idea as to whether to take the comment seriously, or if the style of comment left for me is consistent with comments left for other photos. Does this make sense to you?

I take a comment seriously that is helpful .. no matter what the history is of the person, and no matter their skill level.
I enjoyed going back to all of them. It also showed me how I have progressed along the way. It was a great review. |

I check off the ones that commented, complimented and critiqued.

| yeah, it is funny. i find that the comments I really thought about and though a made a positive and helpful critique on never ever check it off as helpful and the ones I just say a word or two on check it as helpful. I guess people dont want helpful, they want praise, but i'll continue to try to help anyway. I personally only check helpful ones. I don't need someone to tell me I did a good job. |

| I've got a goal that at least 25% of my 1200 plus comments are marked as helpful. Right now I'm running at 28%. |

I have just been looking back at my comments made and foudnt that about half of the critique club comments I have made have not been rated as helpful. OK, maybe my critiques are not the best but I try to give as much information as I can and point out both the good and to be improved aspects of the picture. Why are they not being rated? Its not that I need the rating but it is nice to know that after spending 15mins on a picture that it is appreciated. If you are not happy with the critique then please ask for more feedback, otherwise at least give the critiquer some feedback! RANT!

| I'm bored and I just found this thread but I want to add something. I was looking through my comments and I was trying to see if I consider some of them helpful. One of them I think was more of a compliment. It wasn't marked as helpful but the thing is I noticed that Setzler made nearly the same comment right after I did and it was given a helpful check. Weird. I wish I were Setzer:) |

Natasha, are you sending a message to the person whose picture you have critiqued? Alot of people do not go back and look at their comments on old photos and might not be aware of your critique.

I agree with you. I've gone back and re-read the comments and some only check the "pat on the back" as helpful. I got a comment from one saying he didn't like my comment, that it was all negative. I went back and re-read it to make sure I'd been fair. I still agree with my comment, but noticed he only checked as hepful the ones that said it was good. It needed some help and I pointed this out. That's the kind of comments I want and that's the kind I give. I'll continue to give what I believe are "true" comments concerning the photograph. My last submission I got only one really good comment. I went back and tried it, and sure enought he was right. I let him know so and thanked him. This is what it's all about.
