Hello All

Just got my camera back from being repaired after dropping it and wondered if I could ask a favour of anyone that has one.

If I remember correctly before it was dropped I would turn it on and the LCD information would show instantaneously, mine seems to have a black/greyish screen then the information comes up after a few seconds and sometimes it won't show up at all and I will have to turn it off and back on again.

Could someone tell me if theirs turns on and displays the information right away please?

I'm wondering if there still might be some sort of fault with it or maybe it is a setting that the technicians have changed. :(

Many thanks.

I have an EM5, not an EM1, but what you say describe definitely doesn't sound right to me.

There is definitely something wrong. If it wasn't like that before the repair, contact them immediately; they need to make it right.

On mine, the live view image shows up immediately when I turn it on, then the information shows up approximately 1 second later. What you describe doesn't sound right.

Thanks for the replies.

I added a very short and very bad quality video to my youtube account (hopefully its OK to post links) of it turning on, not sure if its turning on OK or there is some lag.

There was a delay before I turned it on sorry, but you can hear the click as I switch it on.

OK I feel like a bit of a fool now, I think it was because the lens cap was on so there was no image to show on the LCD which made it feel like it was taking longer.

With the lens cap off and turning it on it seems to be more like a black screen for a split second then the image then the information which seems about right. *beats head on desk*

Jejeje. I've had that same revelation myself with my Sony a7r...

Glad I'm not the only one then. :)

So I have to admit...when I was testing it for you, I initially had the lens cap on, and the same thing happened. It seemed like forever before anything showed on the screen.

Glad it's sorted.

Thanks for testing it with the lens cap on as well Ann, glad I didn't have to send it back in for repairs, I would of looked silly getting it back and them saying nothing was wrong and I couldn't do without my camera for another month or more.

Funny that something as simple as having the lens cap on would make it feel like it takes forever to show something on the LCD. :)
