I agree. Also, i really think just adding "simply something" to the caption does not really make the subject "simple" / satisfy what the challenge asked for. But then again, it was completely open to interpretation since there was no challenge description.

Oh well, can't complain though.

Hmm, seems to me that there is a wider interpretation among participants than there is tolerance among voters.

A quick view of the thumbnails shows that the results are pretty much that of a Free Study. Somewhat to be expected with such an open ended theme.

These challenges always seem to attract low votes but then again it is an open challenge. And I've noticed a lot of newbies have come on board and have really low average votes given. I thought mine was an easy over six image but I guess I was wrong!

But then again to me simple is simple it's not complicated, but people love to complicate things all the time.
