Perhaps. I'm not sure why you would be getting port scan attacks if you are behind a firewall. Any good, modern router should have a hardware firewall that should not be allowing that kind of thing; the internal addresses should be invisible. I wonder if what Symantec is seeing as an attack is something on your local network that is being interpreted as a port scan? the cynic in me says that it is in the virus software's best interest to be over-reporting.
I can tell you that I run *no* third-part virus protection. I rely on the in-build Windows Defender, in conjunction with my hardware firewall. Of course, I am also relatively careful about my behavior on the 'net. |
It's coming from a 10.0.0... address, so probably, yes.
Maybe I'll bite the bullet soon. |

I have been using it since it first came out and it's great.
My grandsons also like it because all 3 of them can play together on the Xbox One (2 on the Xbox One and one on the PC
It's been very stable and even when I upgraded my Motherboard/Processor all it took was for Microsoft to sort out the license activation via on-line remote access.

Once Windows started scheduling the upgrade for me I decided I'd better go ahead even though I haven't got my new modem yet. What a pleasant surprise - despite my having a relatively slow internet connection, the whole process took less than an hour.
I'm not sure if it's my imagination, but my computer seems to be responding a bit quicker than it used to. The only problems I've had so far were:
1. the screen resolution was set wrongly, but I had no trouble fixing that
2. links from emails are opening in Edge, not Chrome. So far I've been unable to find how to change that.

I gave up on Chrome. Once, it was the only 64-bit browser. Now, it developed a problem with crashing. So I switched to Edge. |

Right now I am also using Edge for most things. The one dig I have on Edge right now is the lack of support for extensions. It was supposed to be added last year, then early this year... we'll be lucky to see it by mid-year, IMO. |

Right now I run Windows 8.1 and I've been very happy with it--I actually really like using Metro full screen as a program manager. I always disliked the start menu (once you have 10 trillion programs, it's pretty useless.)
I'm usually an early adopter, but I've held off on Windows 10. I have way too much software (and to many licenses) to break. I was hoping to wait until I upgraded to my next machine, which I do every two years, but geesh, this one's been doing so well, with a 6 core processor and 32GB memory, I was going to wait a bit longer. And it's so nice not to have to reinstall and reconfigure everything!
But I probably should. Of course, my C drive probably has too little space to run the upgrade, with only 13GB of 221 left. Though that may be misleading, since I think that includes data that is actually junctioned to another drive.
[My original 256GB C SSD drive went south a month or 2 ago...I replaced it with a 512 GB unit, but I was thinking I wouldn't need much more room and figured I could use the extra space as a separate drive (partition). Wasn't thinking about the upgrade though!]
I have lots of space on my other drives, if it can work with that. I have about 20 TB on my machine (only 10 internal, the rest external).

I suppose I'll have to change over eventually, but I'm not ready to do it right now.

I like Chrome, Firefox and Opera. Never been a fan of Explorer. What do you like about Edge? I've not had any signficant problems with Chrome crashing. Is it only on Windows 10?
I could never give up Chrome's (and Google's) invasion of my privacy--at least when it's too my benefit. ;) For example, I love searching for a location on my desktop and walking out the door with my tablet already set up to find the location on Google Maps. I hate typing on a tablet (or worse, a phone). I used to be able to sync to my car GPS, but Google took that away, so I often use my tablet now instead (even though it's less convenient than something on your dash).

Main reason that I'm using Edge right now is that Chrome's color management is broken on my desktop system, and Edge does a flawless job in that respect. I am also finding that Edge is exceedingly quick, noticeably more so than Chrome. Overall, Edge is a very nice browser, if less than complete at this juncture. |

I've had a problem with Chrome crashing every now and then. It stopped for a while but it's happened a couple of times over the last few days and it's just done it again, so Windows 10 doesn't seem to have solved THAT problem. Maybe it's trying to send me a message.
How different is Edge?

You can have both browsers. Try Edge. Go back to Chrome. Then try Edge.
Edge seems a lot faster to me. Chrome wasn't always loading all the thumbnails at DPC, or loading all of the photo when I clicked a thumb open, or loading it with errors. Edge never does this.
One thing that used to irritate me with MS was when I choose Shutdown or Close, it would ask me if I'm sure I want to do that. A little dialog box popped up in Edge, giving me a chance to opt out of the irritating double-check, so I checked Yes.
So far, I'm pleased with WIN10 & Edge. |

I'm willing to bet it's an extension that's causing the crash, rather than Chrome itself. Try unloading ones you don't need. |

I have Windows 10 and still use Chrome. I have never used Edge. Chrome syncs my desktop, laptop, and phone which makes finding things much easier. Have not had any problems with Chrome crashing, and all my programs worked fine after the upgrade. |

Chrome on my Win10, no issues. Sometimes when Java is required i use Edge. I like how Edge is integrated in the Surface Pro 3. The sync over platforms of Chrome is what keeps me using it. |

Just when I thought that the upgrade had been painless, my start menu has stopped working. I've done a Google search and it seems to be quite a common problem. I've got a scan running right now. Sure hope I can sort it out without doing something stupid.

Thanks. The scan didn't find any problems and after a restart everything seems to be working okay. I mentioned this on another site and was told it was a problem before Windows 10 was released, but shouldn't be happening now, so I'm not sure why it did. I guess you never know with computers - they all do strange things from time to time.
