You miss my point. I know there is nothing wrong with my voting method. I'm simply noticing the drop in voting levels of others and the general decline in voters contributing their opinions. I'll be voting less and commenting zero. It's a viscious cycle and we need some help. |

I just spent a few minutes going back to random challenges for the last two years. From what I can see, all the average scores are pretty much the same as now. Some challenges are a little higher average, and some are a little lower average. I think what you are seeing is the low acceptance of a repeated theme from your entries. Plus, there is an air of shoehorning as well. I think people vote according to what is presented to them. Suck it up, and quit complaining, your better than this Richard. |

I think part of the problem is not the quality of an photograph, but the apparent need for a wow-factor to woo high score votes. People are less impressed now by technique, composition and theme - the image needs to be stunning to win. A great picture speaks for itself. |

If you expect that there is, or should be, an objective standard that cuts across all challenges you are fooling yourself. Most voters (myself included) vote on a curve, and an image that might score a 6+ in a crappy challenge with 50 entries might only get a 5.5 or worse in a Free Study with 150 entries. IMO, its just not possible to say that any image deserves any particular score in any particular challenge, because everything is relative. Be happy that someone took the time to look and vote (happier still if they left you a comment), and take what you want from that feedback and reject what you don't. |
