Here are a few photos. The combination of rain+wind+cold=shivering=crappy photos. There are some good ones... ...most turned out a bit shoddy. I also didnt spend too much time on these since I'm quite disappointed. Stupid wind getting the glass wet.

I love shooting in the rain ... or rather, I love shooting just after it's stopped ; ) ... the spray adds an extra level of interest, and cars are more likeley to spin off. Come to Britain and get plenty of wet weather practice!
As siggi says, there's some great panning there, keep up the good work.

Thanks! You're one of my insperations to do better... the photos you've produced are absolutely great.
The rain was really frustrating, or I should say the wind. Not being to bright I didnt bring a cloth to clean my lens. The wind would blow water onto the glass and Id have to take the shroud off carefully wipe the water off, miss 4-5 cars, and try again. I was also a bit frustrated because I really wasnt prepared for the cold either, so my movements were a bit shakey. Another thing that was a setback was that a lot of people were discouraged from running because of the rain. This is a mix of a grassroots motorsports type event along with some obvious professionals that left their cars in the trailers.
My personal favorite is the R32 GTI going under the bridge. |

Great panning. Which lens(es) did you use? The first one is definitely the best of the lot IMHO.

I appreciate EXACTLY what you mean shooting in the rain!
You've come out with some really good shots though - you da man at panning! I'd really like to see them cropped so the car filled most of the frame though - I think you'd end up with some amazing shots.

You don't need to apologise for your photos: some of them are very good.
I prefer the ones whose front headlights face the camera, and some could benefit from a tighter crop and the post-processing you didn't do.
Anyway good stuff. And good panning. |

Cropping intimidates me.
What meathods do you all use to maintain the ratios?
Again thanks for the comments. This is my second or third attempt at panning and really shooting with my rebel. Unfortunately this was the last event of the year. I think I get too excited when I get a chance to shoot. I'm sure the drivers feel the same about driving. I've gotten a few ride-alongs and... words cant describe it.
Koriyama, I wish I lived where you live. There are soo many large events in Japan that I think my head would pop. Traveling time wouldnt be as extensive as here since I would have to take some vacation to get to events here in the US.
