Not in Australia yet :( but sounds like it will be in the next couple of weeks ...

But the 20D has reached some stores in the US today and is shipping. This is "actually reached the stores" for real, not just people taking pre-orders.

Are you sure? I called Adorama, and they said next week... And who knows when they will ship out?!

B&H apparently have them in store.

Can only go on what they just told me, but have no reason to doubt them as they have always been straight up with me in the past, and if anything seem very wary of promising something they can not be certain of.

Maybe B&H got an early shipment as they shift so many cameras? They have to be one of Canon's biggest retailers at a guess.

Well, look at that! So it is... Bet it won't be for long!

Well, that seems to have changed already, in the last few hours.

The kit with the 18-55 lens is now showing as in stock. The body only isn't showing "Out of stock" but that is is still waiting to first come in.

Maybe they just got the kits in today and stuffed up what they thought they had. It was definitely showing In Stock a little while ago, and the auto-generated "tell me when in stock" e-mails went out as well.

Oh, it is all just toooo exciting *laugh*

Woohooo, I managed to have my order done at B&H before it was out of stock! I'm expecting my order within a week!!!

The 'body only' version was in stock for only four hours, then it was sold out! I was one of the lucky ones that managed to order a copy!

Talk about fast moving stock!!!!!!!!

Congrats on scoring one Amason :)

I was going to order from the US, as often you make a killing compared to the Australian prices, but this time by the time I pay shipping and tax (how the Australian government has a right to charge sales tax on something they never even touched escapes me) it works out the same price as here to within $25 so not worth the hassle of ordering overseas (risk of it getting sat on by a rhino in transit, all that sort of stuff).

I am hoping to see mine in about 2 weeks, fingers crossed!

Keeping it as a souvenir..! :-P

naahhh... put it in an ad in the paper, hoping to sell it before getting my Visa bill, shame on Canon letting the battery grip from 10D not fitting on the 20D! In the meantime I will use it with my 20D with other lens to be fast when shooting birds and stuff like that, also I'm interested do some comparing shots between those two.

I sold mine about 10 days ago. Was aiming for a 1D Mk2 but due to unfoirseen circumstances that isn't going to happen in any realistic timeframe, so am heading for a 20D. I also can't really justify all the extra $ for what the 1D Mk2 offers me over the 20D anyway.

I agree that the price gap between those two is too much and I can't justify the extra cost either. The Mk2 doesn't offer me that much over the 20D either. But I do understand that many people don't hesitate to take the Mk2 over the 20D, mostly people making a living out of photography, working for magazines and newspapers. I predict that the Mk2 will drop in price because of the 20D and it wouldn't surprise me that it will be replaced in feb-may 2005.

Just found out that my 20D shipped from Ritz Camera today and I should have it by Saturday!!! :o) WoooooHoooooo!!!

Now I can't wait until the Battery Grip is made available.

I've seen the battery grip here the other day already Bill. Photocontinental had two. I tried to buy one but they were in the cabinet by accodent as they had already been sold, so they hid them again. However, they are obviously already in production.

Now, as far as all you people about to get your 20D's .... please shut up!!!!!!!! I'm going to be waiting several weeks for mine it looks like, so don't rub it in :(

I am totally camera-less :( :( :(

Thanks, Simon! I'll check and see if I can find one then. I just figured that since B&H didn't have them they weren't available yet.

I wouldn't think that it's going to drop so much that I would postpone a purchase of it if you know that's what you want.

I love my Digital Rebel!

Sold the 10D about 10 days ago, prior to the market here being flooded with them.

I saw an unsubstantiated rumor (take that for what its worth) that there may be a new version of the rebel coming out beginning of next year, which I would suspect to affect prices for existing rebels. This was the same timeframe that rumors were flying about the 10D Mk II back beginning of Aug and we can see how that turned out (20D) so there may be something to it.

If your looking for something sooner or don't put much faith in rumors, I would think you would be more likely to find someone who is upgrading from the rebel to a 20D and selling their rebel used. I would expect used rebels to hit a peak about the time the 20D is widely available (say BestBuy) where people have an opportunity to pick one up and get hooked.

However, if you are going to be paying so much for a camera, I would rather have something new with a full manufactures warranty. Never know what abuse a used camera has taken regardless of the outside appearance. Someone dropping their bag for instance with the camera inside. No visible damage but who knows what has become loose inside. Maybe I'm just paranoid. Even if I had to pay $200 bucks more for the camera I would still want something new. Just my opinion though.

Yeah, I see what you're saying. I went with it anyway, because of the 3 year ext. warranty (through a retailer I trust)...so I am now a digital rebel owner!

: )

Awesome!!! Welcome to Team Digital Rebel. :o)

I would think that a 3 year extended warranty is sufficient.

How do you like it? Isn't it wonderful???

Let's see some shots!
