This might be a pricing mistake on Adorama's part, but it's worth a shot if you need/want a Canon 85mm 1.8 and they honor the price:

On Craigslist they go anywhere between 300 to 350 and looking at this deal, it is definitely a good deal!
By the way day before yesterday they had Canon 600EX-RT with similar deal for $430 something :)

You mean like this?
600EX-RT - $432
430EX II - $231
//slickdeals.net/permadeal/112748/adorama---canon-speedlite-flash-products-w-bonus-lightscoop-canon-600ex-rt-423-or-canon-430ex-ii
ETA - oops, looks like the 600EX-RT deal is over, but the 430EX II is still $231.

That last download comes with a bunch of crap that I am in the middle of uninstalling. I thought that I was careful in selecting the advanced install option where I could choose to NOT install toolbars, PC cleaners, etc. but some got through anyway. |

I just ran the installer...no crapware. I think you must have run the installer from their site rather than the Giveaway installer. The giveaway installer is a ZIP file.
It didn't quite work as usual.
I unzipped it to a folder on my destkop. Ran the regular installer. Afterwards, it told me it wasn't licensed.
Then I ran the Activate.exe that's part of the distribution. That activated it just fine.
You have until 12 midnight pacific to activate. I think it looks like it's worth installing. The file browser alone is nice, and fast.

Well, I went back to the page via the link that you posted and, sure enough, I clicked on the really big green DOWNLOAD button that has the fine print saying something like advertisement far below it.
That is not the download for Hornil StylePix Pro!!!
After downloading what is called "Image Editor" (coincidence??? I doubt it) I installed it while I thought that I was being careful. I chose advanced install so that I could uncheck boxes for the installation of toolbars, PC performance type utilities, etc. I thought that I had outsmarted the attempts to "piggyback" malware along with the Hornil software when, in fact, everything that I was installing was part of the insidious package of malware that the "advertiser" intended to be downloaded. Apparently, anything that I downloaded using that big green download button was a victory for the @$$holes who make a living doing this.
I have finally removed everything (I think) except something called "Image Editor". I have not yet determined a way to remove it. When I attempt to do so by going to my control panel and clicking uninstall, a window pops up asking me if I will allow Image Editor to make changes to my computer. At first I allowed it and then another window with the title "Uninstall Manager" popped up to verify if I wanted to "Remove this program from Add/remove programs" No! I don't believe that is the same as removing it and uninstalling it entirely from my computer. It seems to me that this is slightly different from my intentions and allowing this would make it that much more difficult to remove the damn program.
I don't have time to pursue a solution at the moment so I will have to get back to it Friday. Ugh!!!

Sorry for your troubles Robert! I went back via the link and I don't even see the ad. Perhaps you need to be running an adblocker! I use AdBlock 2.6.18 on Chrome. Worth looking into, and free.
Some general advice about GiveawayOfTheDay.com: I always look at the ratio of thumbs up to thumbs down as well as what people are saying to save time. They point out problems in installing, or if there's adware/bloatware included, or if the program sucks. And always look for the posts by Giovanni (he's #9 on today's giveway) who points to freeware alternatives and, gives reasons why you might want to go that route on a case by case basis. Ashraf's posts are even more in depth--he reviews many of these giveaways on his site (I don't see a post for him this time, but he's #1 on yesterday's giveaway, and his review is here |

Never mind on today's freebie, then.
: )
Lots of down votes and apparently other free & better alternatives.
Thanks for the heads up, Neil. |

Sony SD cards on Amazon Gold Box...

I have a few of these. Not extreme level performers, but reasonable and reliable.
This portable charger looks interesting too for $20

Not sure if anyone would love but this is a pretty good deal!
Canon EF 24-70mm f/4L IS USM Zoom Lens - U.S.A. Warranty.
When you look at page it says:
$1,299.00
You Save $200.00 (13.34%)
and as soon as you add this to cart the price drops to $999.00 then on top of this you have $200 mail in rebate so final price would be $799. Free shipping and no tax outside of NY :) |

And for those of you who don't want the $30 lightroom deal, here's a LR clone for free, grab it before it expires (not sure when). I have tried an earlier version, and it's not bad. I downloaded it...you never know when you'll get frustrated with LR!
