The most exciting part of being a videomaker is when a rock/metal band comes to you asking you to shoot a music video for one of their songs.
This is an Italian hardcore band, Straight Opposition. They just came back from their European tour. I don't know if this will be the last version of the video, but I wanted you to take a look at it.

Wow, that's really professional! Good thing too, because if it wasn't, the singer would probably kick your butt! Really well done.
I get a kick out of doing silly little videos with my little point & shoot, so appreciate all the work that goes into editing.

Excellent work, very professional. The only thing I see is that the energy of the video during the first several seconds matches the music very well but for the rest of the video I was wanting more energy from the editing and cutting. Really throw the cut scenes at you. But that is just my opinion, I enjoyed watching it. |

Thanks guys.
I always love to know what people feel watching videos I've done. The strange thing Joshua is that I feel the beginning not fast enough while the end it seemed to me to have more energy.
I had to shoot it with my D600, but I had a huge problem with sensor (there's a thread here about it), so I asked a Nikon 5200 to a friend of mine. I could use D7000 but it doesn't have a high frame rate,
and it is useful for the slow motion scenes.
I used these lens: Sigma 10-20, Tamron 24-70, Samyang 8mm. and an old manual focus 50mm 1.4 |

For the ones interested in this stuff, this is the final version of the video - I have to say that I'm quite proud of it :)

alessandro
first of all great editing...i must commend you on the overall quality of the video.
however...i tried to listen to the words and understand whats going on...no luck..so i assumed the boxing sequence was part of the message in the song..correct? all very good but there was no progession in the story or the message of the fighters.
the backstory went no where.
I was expecting to see one fighter dominate and then knock out the opponent. maybe match the message in the song?
maybe i missed it altogether
just my opinion

There were words? I just heard growling. The neighbor's dog makes those same noises when its eating the other neighbor's cat. |

Good point Leo.
First idea of the band was to have a knock out in the end of the video. But the fight was too 'didactic' especially because it was a sort of metaphor. Here you can read the lyrics:
THIS IS THE DAY YOU DO BE UNBREAKABLE
THIS IS THE DAY YOU COVER YOUR HANDS WITH THE TEN OZ. GLOVES
THERE IS NO PAST TO KEEP ALIVE
JUST A FUTURE TO PREVERVE FROM A DAILY MAZE
Â
 3 KNOKS TO GIVE TO
 3 KNOKS TO GET BACK
 2 DRILLS TO TAKE AIR
 10 OZ. TO CHANGE WIEW
 10 OZ. TO BEAT STRAIGHT
 10 OZ. TO PLAY DEAD
Â
 THIS IS YOUR INNER REVOLUTION
THE FIRST LIGHT FROM A SLOW REDEMPTION
THE DAY YOU DECIDE TO BE UNBREAKABLE
DRESSING ALL THE PAIN WITH DIGNITY
Â
3 KNOKS TO GIVE TO
 3 KNOKS TO GET BACK
 2 DRILLS TO TAKE AIR
10 OZ. TO CHANGE WIEW      Â
 10 OZ. TO BEAT STRAIGHT
 10 OZ. TO PLAY DEAD
Â
 10 OZ. GLOVES  Â

Really loved that Alessandro it was so skillfully made.
