AFAIK, though, if you shoot RAW, you cannot see the images on the camera using the OS to browse, so if you want to move RAWs from the camera to the 'pooter, you need to use the Canon software. Thence, you can use Lr to import. Two step process. My process is, remove card from camera and insert in reader, click import. Single step gets me to the point where the images are copied to the proper folder on the HDD, imported to the catalog, and default processing (none) applied. Same process applies whether I shot JPEG or RAW (I personally almost never shoot JPEG).

LR directly imports the RAW files from my 5dmkII.

LR handles all the cataloging, directories and where the files go stuff.
