I do realize that there will prob be some major suits filed by the feds over this...

yeah because letting high priced lawyers fight over our rights always generates the best outcome. if that where you plan to spend your tax money...

no but I believe in fighting for our rights....The feds are currently trying to strip our rights and texas is fighting back. I respect that

the feds are trying to control a problem, they aren't taking your rights, only restricting further the means with which you are able to exercise them.

... yep, I can see it now. Charge those entrusted with enforcing the law... better yet, just simply ignore all Federal laws and go back to what things were like a few hundred years ago.

Nothing like progress.

Restricting the law abiding citizen....The laws dont effect the crooks anyway. They will still be able to get everything that is "restricted"...so that means that the problem is not solved, it's just undercover.

Look at Chicago. They have some of the toughest gun legislation in the US. They also have a ton of violent crimes. And they are under "restriction"

As I mentioned before, I have the solution. Simply control the ammunition and eventually even the criminals will end up using their weapons as clubs.

Regarding your Chicago scenario, you example is akin to erecting a two foot fence around your property... might look good but if everyone can step over it, then you truly have no controls do you.

Just a thought.

ok regulate the ammo....This will cause one of a few things. Either the gangs or criminals will start reloading their own ammo, or there becomes a black market for ammo. Currently in the US there is no market for that. OK drugs are outlawed yet have the feds been able to stop or really even make a sizeable dent in their importation....NO. Effectively that would give the cartels another medium to trade in.

there isn't currently a black market for guns?

we just had a guy get prosecuted for robbing two banks near me with a FULLY AUTOMATIC weapon. how the hell did he get that? walmart?

ok, here is my solution.

make all new guns with new ammo, regulate the sales of the new guns heavily, and mean heavily.

now people can keep their old guns, the new ammo wont work in the old guns, no rights are infringed since you haven't banned guns and once the old ammo is gone the problem goes away.

as a bonus you create jobs making these new guns.

OK again you are regulating the law abiding citizen. So you are going to tell a hunter, or a target shooter, or someone trying to defend their property. that they can no longer use the weapons that they bought legally. Oh and it isnt hard to make your own ammo. Gunpowder is easy to make. The most difficult part is makining the primers.

This nation is coming closer to another civil war....guns are just the tip of the iceberg and may be the straw that broke the camel's back.

Hmmmmmm.... not something I would want to test. I seem to recall way back when I was enforcing the Migratory Birds Convention Act in the 70's, that shotguns held up to five shells.

Your theory could very well leave someone full of holes. :O)

Ray

He said it was a double barrel shotgun I.E. 2 rounds only. Come on Ray I think I have demonstrated my expertise as to not make such a pedestrian mistake. :-)

If you are "inside" and you are shooting at someone "outside" I think any reliance on the doctrine of self-defense in the face of an imminent threat will be shot full of holes by a savvy prosecutor.

Joe said to go outside and fire off 2 rounds not at the Perp but just to scare him. These were his words but I do agree with your point General.

The vice president said that is exactly what he told his wife to do. "Said Jill if there's ever a problem just walk out on the balcony here walk out. Put that double barreled shotgun and fired two blasts."

-Joe Biden

lol, like the "rebels" would have any shot against the union army in this day and age. the only tactic the rebels would have they wouldn't use.

Oh, but wars are good for the economy, right? Just think, a little "population control" along with munition factories, jobs for everyone!

are they? seem to me we have been bankrupting this country for over a decade trying to "fix" a problem that is easily fixed by simple leaving.

You laugh but I know a lot of soldiers that are just as frustrated as me that if it came to that would not fight for the union.

and really think they need you or them?

they question is will you or them fight against the union and will you do what it takes to make the America people weary of the war and that includes destroying the cities. Fighting in the plains cornfields aren't going to win anything in this day.

Well... As interesting as that would be.. I'm particularly glad that this isn't particularly likely to ever happen.

But not surprising. He probably said that oath like he read the second amendment (ie selectively).
