A friend of mine's father lives in Japan and he says there's a new Nikon DSLR coming out in the fall. Anyone know anything about it?

It may be the new Nikon D2x camera. It is to be shown "under glass" at Photokina in Germany at the end of September. It is expected to ship in January 2005.

It will not be a full-sized CCD as many hoped for, but it will yield much higher resolution and a Wi-Fi interface. One great improvement will be in the batteries, which will power the new camera significantly longer than for the D1x.

I hope to see it at the Photokina show and perhaps again at Photo Plus Expo in New York City. There are many rumours circulating about this new camera and there is also a great deal of speculation offered.

By the way, you can purchase a new or used Nikon D1x at a very affordable price right now if you want a terrific camera much sooner. I will sell my two bodies to get the new model.
