Hi;
I recently had someone offer to license a few photos for inclusion in a internal company newsletter. They asked what my per photo fee is. I didn't have pricing, so I searched around. I found a few prices, and set mine accordingly. I stated the per photo fee is $100 for a non-exclusive, one time use license. The person ended up not using my photos as they found one from the local newspaper, who charged them $44 per photo. These prices are also in Canadian funds. I am posting this because I had a hard time coming up with pricing, and see that others have asked this same type of question. Perhaps this post might help other people in the same situation. Perhaps not. Either way, keep shooting!

Don't worry, $100CND for the photo use is totally reasonable, just depends how badly YOU want it to be published. To buy the photo, that's another story becuase you then cant' use it anymore....that'd be around $400. Then again, if you're going to be doing major work and your business someday might just be photography than it wouldn't be unreasonable to charge more. Up to you really.
The $44 photo was probably from someone just like yourself who didn't know what to charge.

I would think the newspaper would know what to charge. More likely the photo used was rather generic in nature and priced accordingly.
