It is the same thing. You're simply being obtuse around realizing that.
Both you and Lydia chose irrelevant locations giving the SC nothing to work with. It's not that difficult to understand both situations are the same, or maybe it is. |
Apparently it *is* that hard to understand. The *rules* say to set your camera time/date accurately to your home time zone, which she did. The *rules* say to note the location of the shot, if different, which she did. The *rules* say *nothing* about needing to have a specific location in your profile, probably because if a question arises, the SC can simply ask. Now, I ask you, just what did Monica do wrong? Stay away from home too long?

To summarize: If Korea is my "home time zone" then I shouldn't have been DQed. If it's not, then I should have.
So we've had pages and pages of debate on whether I can say Korea is my "home time zone" as the rules specify to set your camera to one's "home time zone".

My parents would say so. But they still hold the delusion that I'll somehow inhabit a space that no longer exists in their homes and that I'll magically be 10 again, like most parents. :P My room at my dad's has been taken by my brother for 16 years and my room at my mom's has been taken by my sister for 5 and there are no spare rooms. My apartment in Korea was taken over a mere 6 months ago so.... yea. Again I'm an adult. My home isn't where my parents are.
ETA: I wonder what my dad would think of this debate. He's always super happy for me when I ribbon, but he'd sure as hell like to say Florida is my home :p

Ha! <-- @ your complete original "My parents would say so."
(before your edit)
Tell him that you DID win a ribbon. Your image scored in the top TWO of all of the images in the challenge.
The date thing? It'll all matter much less later.
Be proud of your accomplishment.
And, if not... let it spur you to do it again ... EVEN LARGER!!!

I am proud and always want to do larger. :P Doesn't change the fact that I still think I shouldn't have been DQed.
I'm also very proud of my friend Ashley for setting up her writing project and using my images to illustrate some stories. *Shameless plug* *Shameless Plug* The Way Home Project. First of many posts using my images.
May even submit my own story to her project inspired by thoughts that have been sparked from this thread. Or possibly about my time in Haiti amongst people from at least 15 different countries at my last count all sleeping in a tents, pooin in buckets, and showering with buckets (don't mix em up!), no power, washing hands with a coconut...
Home... hmmm. Harder and harder to define in this modern world.

LydiaToo & escapetooz's situations are identical in my opinion. They both have 'evidence' that they set their clock correctly by deductive logic. But they both set their profile location to a place other than their actual home.
The rules do not *require* you to specify a location. But the SC also isn't *required* to make an exception if you don't. |

Except one camera was set to the correct time and one was set to an incorrect date.
Other than that major detail, yep totally the same. |

Exactly like I already said. Both had evidence that there time was set correct. One based on geography, one based on the simple fact that it was one year to the day. Aug 2nd 2012 vs Aug 2nd 2013.
It's trivial to see how both happened. only takes a few neurons to see that.
So yes. Identical. |

Yes, it's trivial... to see that in one case the date/time was set *correctly* and in the other case *incorrectly* by a year.

I'm not arguing that. I'm saying that both have evidence that their shoot was taken during the time limits. |

Welp I think we've exhausted all arguments. Just waiting for the final say by the SC. Feels like I've been waiting forever but they probably have those funny little things called "lives" whatever thoooose are. ;)

First Lance Armstrong and now THIS?! There is too much injustice in this world. Maybe you should do like Lance and just say that you are tired of trying to prove that you didn't do something that you didn't do..... |

You could say that with anything. There is always something worse going on in the world.

The emboldened is the fly in the ointment for you.
It's your responsibility to have your camera set properly............functionally homeless, traveling, whatever, it's on you to have the details sorted out on an entry. |

The question is what's "properly"?
