I have a Nikon D300 and am looking for a decent remote shutter release.
I'm looking for one with the cord that attaches to the camera as I'm not interested in a wireless remote.
Does anyone have any recommendations and what features do you find invaluable? |

I think this works with the d300. Works with my d200 and I think they use the same connector.
Remote
Love it. Although they break easily. Tripod was unbalanced and thankfully the remote broke the fall. Remote was destroyed but camera was saved. For $8 its a steal. |

I have this pair for sale. Used it on my D300 with great success.
Nikon MC-20 Shutter Release & Manual Release, $25.00 for the pair.

I am very happy with my Vivitar remote release for Canon, well built, has taken more than a few drops without a hiccup, I don't know what the range is because i have never gotten far enough to have it balk. Comes in Nikon flavor too.
Edit. I missed that you do not want a wireless trigger, though i can not imagine why you would prefer not to have that most excellent feature. My favorite feature in a trigger is Bulb mode, full burst and partial burst options.

I've got one of these. It's got a bulb mode, which is nice and mostly what I use it for, but it should have been way cheaper for what it is. It seems to hold up fine, but it doesn't seem THAT sturdy for paying nearly $60 for the thing. I'd consider picking up the ones from Danny- I bought a tripod from him and everything was super fast and easy. Just waiting for it in the mail as we speak. |

Don't you have to be in FRONT of the camera for it to work? |

That's why I don't want a wireless shutter. I figure I'm going to be behind the camera anyway. |

Nope the radio triggers fire in any direction. Only the opticals need to have line of sight. I shoot lots of shots pushing lights around behind the camera, shooting from waaaay behind the tripod. I used to use a wired remore and found to too confining. Plus I tended to mess up loooong night shots (using MLU) by letting the remote bang into the tripod when I let it go, and having it go bonk, bonk, bonk.
