WTF. I have been viewing images, "tutorials", "how'd they do that" for years around here and thousands of other sites. I found it was easier for me to look at a photo, google what I thought was how they got the result and learn to do it myself. I like to see the Exif on photos and descriptions of how people got to the end result. I'm sure I'm not the only person on the internet who learns this way. But when you join a site and right off get some "regular" singles you out as a spammer is BS. Really kills the the site as welcoming.

Well, Larry, I could just let this pass, but you really put me in a bad mood and since you felt the need to rant about it, I feel the need to respond. I didn't single you out as a spammer and my perceived attack aside, you got some pretty welcoming comments and replies from others if not from mine before you posted this, so why are you whining about it? Frankly, lurking around for two years, gleaning tips and information from the community without ever even registering or contributing in any way is a bit selfish and that's not what this community is about. If you don't even have thick enough skin to handle a fair question about your first post and you don't have anything to contribute, then maybe you should skulk away and find some other site to hide in the bushes at.

When we register we should get a complimentary Prozac gift voucher, I might even go color if we did.

So there is a serious side to Art after all.

A bit like the Incredible Hulk. Don't get him angry, you wouldn't like him when he's angry (cue sad piano music)

wow... Where is this coming from? You posted the original thread days ago. Many people explained why Art questioned your post, including Art himself. And many people went on to answer your question.

If you've been watching here for years, you'd realize just how many spam threads we get.

You'd realize how many times someone registers, asks a question, the community goes out of its way to give in depth answers, and the original poster never bothers to respond.

You'd realize how wonderful Art is, and how he is one of the best people around here.

I'm sorry that you took it so personally, and that you ignored all of the explanations and could only see what you wanted to see -- not the fact that people went out of their way to be helpful.

There is a certain look and feel to a spam post, and you accidentally fit the template with a genuine post. That's all that happened. Many of the forums I belong to are touchy about spam attempts. It's sometimes the only way to keep it in check, or the forum becomes useless with posts for cheap Gucci handbags and "genuine" Adidas running shoes.

Hey Larry, call it a case of unfortunate timing at DPC. We're in the middle of a family spat and everyone is a bit testy and on edge. We're all overreacting - even you! So take a deep breath, and perhaps consider sending someone a PM first if they've done something that bothers you, rather than calling them out in public. But this is a photography site, so let's see some photos from you!! And thanks for the lovely comment!

tanguera, I wasn't "calling" anyone out in public. If someone feels like a dink for thier rude comments and think my rant on rant thread is about them, that is their ego hurt I guess. I didn't metion a name or anything in particular. I thought the topic was rant, my rant not "someone elses juvenile tantrum" Personally, I could care less. And as far as a few other things mentioned, I haven't been reading the forums while I have been here, and I'm sure not going to pay to show my crappy photos. And yes it is a photo site, and learning site.

Quelle joie de vivre.

Larry, take a chill pill and a big, deep breath.

We all need both of those from time to time.

Make friends with Art. He is wonderful, we love him, and your village will be safer.

Breathe.............

It's not about showing your crappy photos. You can use Flickr, Facebook or 500px for that. It's about learning to improve your crappy photos to mediocre photos. Or really good ones.

Judging by your attitude and grasp of logic, you'll fit in really well here.
