I think they look richer in colour and depth than today's shots. I am not sure why I think that though!

Awesome shots! My grandmother did the Rosie the Riveter job in Philadelphia at the shipyard. I'd love to come across some photo of her like that.

Such gorgeous photos! I think it is exactly that type of image and quality that some film purists talk about when they tell us that digital is no good.

Shooting Kodachrome is akin to shooting a DSLR on "vibrant" JPEG setting. Yep, the Kodachrome color is gorgeous. I've always loved it.
These were shot mostly on 4x5 inch large-format film, so the "sensor area" is about 102mm x 127mm, or about 14.9 times the area of a 35mm frame. So it's no wonder there is tremendous detail present. Assuming a 35mm Kodachrome frame contains about 6Mpx of detail, one of these frames is has the potential to hold the equivalent of about 90Mpx worth of detail!

I know I am echoing what everyone else is saying - but those rich colors really draws you in - very vivid. Great collection of photos - love some of the candid captures. Thanks for sharing.

Without the women we could not have won the war. Without the dedicated leadership we had at that time that war would have turned out like the ones that have followed. Political correctness will be the end of us. :( We cannot be afraid to kill our enemy....all of them.

wow, you sure know how to be a buzz kill.....

anyway, looking at all the comments about the color, i don't doubt the power of kodachrome but isn't it the least bit possible that whoever posted these manipulated them digitally after they were scanned?
