Take a picture that has feet in it. Be creative and original!
I have just been voting on this challenge (i have no entry in it) and noticed that a lot of people have put just one foot in their entry.
My problem is that after voting around 40 images i realised what the challenged said (had to go back check that i read it right) should i be pedandic and go back and mark the one footers down or should i let it ride and continue to vote as i have?.
Let me hear what you think, all those people who submitted one foot or those who entered feet please convince me either way. |

Foot or feet, what difference does it make? They meet the challenge both ways... |

I don't know if this would be a productive request.
There is a discription that you can read. From that rightly or wrongly YOU must make a decision based on your interpertation not on the persons interpertation who can write a better argument than another.

Thats a very good point, i just thought i must of been interperting it wrong and could not find any discussion on it in previous posts.
I had already made my mind up before making the post it was more to see if i was totally wrong. |

I like to be reasonably liberal rather than anal about applying the challenge description.
Whilst I think it's important that the image show a clear link to the theme I like to think of the theme as a starting point for creativity and ideas rather than an unecessarily restrictive limit.
I'd agree with Gurilla that you should decide within yourself how strictly you wish to interpret the theme instead of going with whoever makes the most persuasive argument in this thread since voting really is a very personal thing.

So when did someone's interpretation or appreciation of an artistic expresssion become a "right" or a "wrong" thing? I think you probably ought to let up just a little and vote how you like some of the submissions. Being able to list a set of do's and don'ts about taking a photo is a good beginning but there are shots (both in this challenge in throughout DPC) that are compelling images or that may just speak to one viewer and not to another. At the end of the challenge someone (maybe me) could easily disagree with the vote you gave them but its still your interpretation that you have to vote based on.

In my mind the challenge description has always been intended as a launching point for creativity. When an entry has a clear and solid connection to the challenge topic, I consider that image to meet the challenge. Of course in cases where the connection is tenuous at best, I score accordingly as well.

I don't think it's a matter of being right or wrong as much as it is a matter of being consistent. If you have an interpretation, apply it evenly, even if it means having to go back.
Also, just as importantly, leave comments when your interpretation really torpedoes someone's score. Like most people, I find the low scores easier to take when I have some idea as to why they are low. |

Thanks for the feedback, Just to fill you in I read the challenge when it first came out but did not have time to enter, I started voting and subconsciously voted feet/foot alike then after about 40 images my wife walks in and says thats a foot not feet and thats where it all started.
I will now carry on with my voting and by the way i won the bet thankyou very much. |

The very fact that so many entries have a single foot in them would suggest that it's a valid interpretation. |

Yes, to mark down 'foot' shots would be a tad harsh. Perhaps the other foot may be involved in the concept off-camera? Or maybe the perception of 'feet' was for the collective challengers?
I'm going easy on this one - and there are plenty of other reasons to mark down the shots - like disgusting nails, cracked heels and general unaesthetics!
So I suppose on this challenge we'll all be ped-antic. Er, I'll get my coat.

If grammar purist and languague dictators haven't figure it out yet, this site is about photography and improving the skills of doing it !
People who look to find any other reason to put photographs down , don't belong here.
Who cares how many feet are there ,if they are bare or not ...
Every challenge someone comes up to argue about photos not meeting the challenge and interesting thing about such people is their favorite photo counts are 0 or in single digits, nothing makes them happy abviously !
Just go to the grocery store and argue with cashiers if you don't have nothing smarter to do with your time ! |

I sort of figured it would get pendantic so my shot has two(2) un-shod feet as the central focus, because my scores need all the help they can get. However for my voting I belive a foot is the thing at the base of the leg, and as it happens my favorite shot of the challenge has only one well-shod foot in it and it is a very very good shot. However many feet there are in the frame, if you can tell it is a foot, it qualifies. |

To me no matter if there are feet or foot or legs or paws ...
Within the largest interpretation of the Challenge theme, aesthetic must prevail ! So, let boil over your imagination and ... have fun ;o) |

What does international have to do with anything! There will always be those who agree with you, those who don't and those in between.
