i submitted for advice and i got mixed advice (not bad, just mixed) ultimately i settled on the one I though would appease the most voters and that was the pretty color one.
but i cant hep but wonder which would have done better, i prefer the black and white. the lines are much more defined. I not a big fan of the hdr look and i tried my best to keep it toned down, but i had to create an hdr as the lighting range was just too much for my camera in one frame. the black and white also kills that hdr look. its seems to be a cleaner image.
i should have had a backbone and entered what i liked best as opposed to trying to play to the voters, so which do you like best?
(sorry for the large links, i dont have the alternate uploaded here)

Color is better, you would need some special light and PP to make BW more interesting. |

Would like more contrast/depth in both images to be honest. Very nice though.

great composition. color or bw depends on what you were going for. I am partial to the monochrome. It brings out the patterns and textures and reinforces depth. |

i actually have a better version on the b/w with more contrast, but i dont want to link to it since it will give away a current and future challenge entry.

I like the color shot. I gave it an 8 for the color and the composition. The B&W is good but the color makes it pop.

The color one is very intense and pulls the eye. It's warm and makes you want to be there to see the sunset, whereas the B & W seems just as interesting, but slightly more gloomy as if I don't really want to be at the bridge when you took the photo. I like both, but I think you were right to go with the "happier" image (color); I'm guessing the BW would not have done as well. --IMO
Very nice composition overall though

Usually I would say B&W but not in this case. I love the sky in the color one.

I like the color version better. The colors in the sky makes me study the shot longer.
I gave the color shot a 7 and probably would've given the b&w a 6. |

Anyway what are you complaining about you got a great score, and there was a load of great shots in the challenge, I think the top 10 are well deserved on the whole. |

I'll be the outlier here and say I prefer the B&W image more. But, it would need to get processed further to expand the tonal range. Right now it seems a little flat in terms of the contrast. Push the blacks and whites, a little dodge&burn and it'll pop much better.

The HDR looks perfect. So much so it'd be hard tell it was processed like that. Definitely the color version in this case. It's more inviting and the sunset sky and colors look great. In the b/w shot, the tones of the objects are so similar that things blend together. With all those lines, things look very busy. Maybe a different b/w edit could come really close to the color version in impact but as of now it's an easy pick for me. It's a great shot. Be proud :)

yup. color. I love b&w, but yours is definitely too flat. |

Colour one does it for me though I would be very pleased with both. |

The B&W looks very interesting - could be processed a bit more, though on my dark office monitor looks pretty good as it is :).
I realized another thing - if you shot this for B&W, you would probably have tried different framing. There are some very interesting lines and patterns that could be exploited better from another perspective.

It looks like it is fairly unanimous for the color one

The color one has the "eye candy" appeal that seems to do well here.
The B&W version emphasizes the form of the bridge while the color version emphasizes the sky and atmospherics at the expense of the structure. |

I'm going to be the odd one out - I like the B&W better. In fact, I love it! |

I'll just add to the bag of "mixed" comments.
I say black and white. I gave the color a 7, I liked it very much, very pretty colors. But after seeing the black and white, I'm thinking I would have scored that one a little higher. JMO though. :)

Colour all the way for me, if it was just the bridge with no golden tones then yeah bw but works lovely in colour I didn't vote but I'd have given it a 7 in colour |
